E60 525 Engine Jerky

My engine is jerky when idling (e.g. stop at traffic lights) and, strangely, when on reverse gear jerks more.

Car has regular servicing. 100k mileage.

Petrol Caltex 98, once in a while 95.

Two nights ago, and since Shell Vpower was on offer, I pumped a full tank of Vpower.

Last night and this morning, I noticed that my car don't jerk anymore.


Why is my engine appetite so atas? Does it need workshop attention?

I been using esso 8000 or v power no jerking problems,but however I add octane booster n fuel injector cleaners on alternate tanks,
Jerking prolly came from jammed fuel injector,no harm buying one of those fuel injectors n try to see if such problems still occur

Before Vpower, I was on Caltex 97. Once or twice, I tried 95.

Please share with me precisely what you use.... brand, model, quantity, duration, cost, where to get etc. Thks.

Autobac carry a few brands.

I still love those that spray directly through the throttle body, then you will see lots of smoke ram out from the exhaust!!!

Now manly pour into the fuel tank......

I use two brands one is marvel mystery oil(super hard to find) and the other is
Stp brand (almost every petrol kiosk can find) fuel injectors n octane booster,they also have a deep cleaning system,
They got 4 sorts of additives
One grey which is the deep cleaning system which is about $25
One red which is the fuel injector cleaner
One orange which is the octane booster
And one black (forgot what is it )
Red/orange/black is about $12-13 a bottle

When I took over the car it was not performing very well,engine was like no power and such,had full pml service records by ex owner,talked to a few friends they told me could be the injectors and such not clean so was suggested to them to use the injector cleaners and using better quality petrol so i tested v power all the way plus the stp grey bottle for two months to clean up the injectors and such until the 3rd month when I find power is more n engine smoother(hence no jerkiness)

Tried before caltex and spc but found out for me the order of preference for my car would be
V power
Esso 98
Spc 98 level
Caltex kills my car (no offense to those who uses caltex)
But since don't have spc near my home so it's usually esso and vpower for me

After finding that the car is purring smoothly,verified by a few friends as well,i changed the pump pattern for my monthly maintenance 4full tanks a month,one week one tank
1st-3rd week pump esso 8000 add red/orange/black alternating them on a weekly basis
4th week pump v power and the grey bottle

The stp products I bought them from petrol kiosk and mustafa n giant before

A lot of people will think that these additives are just a bluff to make us spend more money.
But after trying it on my own two sedans at home and also some friends who uses diesel commercial vehicles,there is really a diff,and best of all fc lowers a bit

But now I only uses the stp deep cleaning system and Lucas oil octane booster

And frankly I have not modded much of my ride yet and a few of my friends are amazed at how smooth the car is when the mileage is approaching 75k coupled with my driving habit,they always say "the way u drive engine very fast up lorry"

The ride is definitely not exactly smooth as compared to those who has done extensive tuning and modding or compared to a new ride but for that kind of mileage is considered quite good Liao

You mean you open the air filter box and SPRAY ?

Start the engine with the air filter piping that connect to the throttle body remove, blow the engine and hold the throttle body 45'C angle spray it directly into the throttle body....

You can also buy Map Sensor cleaner to clean the Map sensor.

i think nowadays bmw engines mostly dun have throttle body so the easiest way is thru the pipe after filter but i am thinking - will the injector cleaner dirty or mess up the Air Mass Sensor..... kia si

map sensor is after the filter, map sensor very easy to take out, only 2 screw... Spray it, then screw back. map sensor will still gets dirty, which is not quite common under singapore "Clean" air. We still want to clean it at interval. especially those using CAI.

Map Sensor, correct me if I am wrong. This is my first time driving a BMW, not like Jepun car that everything is so clearing seen.

Start with the bottle on the right & steadily move left through all the bottles. Remember to shake well before use & rock the car to ensure.uniform mixing in the tank.

I bought the 3M fuel system & Fuel injector cleaner this time round.
