I believed the majority of the forum guys/gals are driving the E90/E92 here.

This Thread is to keep track of the repairs/replacement parts done on your E90 / E92 facing during your ownership of the ride.

It will let the owner knows what may need to change in the near future or distance future.

Oil change, sparks plug, all filter, tyres, brakes rotors and brake pads not included as this is considered wear and tear.

Let me start with mine.

Model: E90 320i
Mileage: 92,000km
Years of ownership: 3 years 2 months

Parts replaced:
Water hoses
Oil Sump Gasket
Valtronic E Motor
Oil Seals
Doors alternator (Failed twice)
Gear Box (Warranty claim from PML)

Future Parts replacement:
Water Pump
Fuel Pump
O2 sensor

Let's us share what else you guys/gals changed. The above parts are faulty and needs to be replaced. It is all done at a 3rd party good workshop with good pricing and workmanship.

I still love my car, good drive no doubt and I believe a good maintenance on the car will see it live a long way and serve you well.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Hi Como,

Which workshop do you go for your repairs/ replacement?

My ride is a E90, 3 years and 1 month old (44K mileage). my vehicle has the following problems recently:

Oil leakage
Radiator leaking

From other treads, it seems like the above problems are very common in the E90. (PML told me was wear and tear?) As my warranty expired only a month ago, PML was kind enough to absorb a substantial of the parts cost but I still have to pay full for the labour. It costed me $1.6K.

Recently, my air-con seems to be blowing warm air and I went to PML and was told the air-con compressor failed. The total estimated cost is $2.6K, including labour.

I am very suprised there are so many problems with the E90, as previously with my humble Japanese made car, no problem even up to the 4th year (it was sold since then).

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

it never fails to amaze me the amount of items that needed to be replaced due to wear and tear. my jap cars... nothing needed to be replaced until past 4 years and these are juz minor stuffs. oil and water leaks... unheard of.

oh well, dats the price to pay for wanting a good drive. hope mine dun need so many replacement or if it does, is before warranty ends :)

I went to BVO to get it sorted out, u can go there to get them to give you a quote. it shld be cheaper.

PM me if u need more info :)

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Thanks. Their workshop is a little far from my place as I stay in the east.

BTW, I went to my regular workshop (Shell Station, as my previous Mazda 3 used to be serviced there). They told me they are able to service Bimmer. Any bros here can confirm that?

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

well...our cars are highly sensitive and not all workshop have the diagnostics system. You have to make sure they are using the correct quality parts.

cheers

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

You are right, otherwise it will end up more costly to rectify

BMW operates at higher temperature than Jap ka. In addition, a lot of parts are made of plastic. Hot temp + Hot weather + plastics parts.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Gosh... plastics and we paid a high price for our car.... what is BMW thinking....

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Model: E90, 320i
Mileage: 75000
Ownership: 2.6years
Parts changed under warranty;
1. Driver's seat belt - not able to pull down
2. Steering wheel - horn faulty
3. Front doors handle and armrest - leather peeling off
4. Engine oil pan - oil slugde
5. Gearbox gasket - leakage
6. Friction tape on doors - prevent squeaking noise (add-on)
7. Software upgrade - to change OCI to 12k instead of original 25k

If it is not plastic parts, ur ka will b heavier. The shift from aluminium parts to plastic parts started either from E38 7 series or E39 5 series.

If customers r rich enuf, may get carbon parts.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

My ride is E90/320
76000km
3 years

Parts changed under warranty:
Door locks
Oil level sensor
Rocker arm box gasket
Radiator
Aircond Evaporator
Aircond compressor
Valvetronic motor
Check Valve (for the brake pedal)

The most frustrated part being the need to leave the car at PML for very long time i.e. inconvenience after paying $100+k for it!

I am so gald that the warranty is going to be over soon that I am free to use outside more professional and service oriented workshops!

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

My warranty expiring soon, hope that the radiator and aircon will kaput before the warranty expires....any way to fasten it?

Can complain that the aircond is very noisy i.e. i got mine replaced by PML after I complained it was noisy! Not sure about the radiator (I encountered actual leak with the radiator). Cheers!

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

90,000km is a lot of driving. not surprising on the stuff u r claiming.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

The onboard computer informed me that there is a failure on the rear left indicator light on my first day.

Looking at the bright side, I will probably never find out or find out much later if not for the BMW electronic monitoring system. At least I know I have to be extra careful when turning left or changing to left lane until I get it fixed.

For a previous Jap ride, I did not know the reverse lights have failed until a colleague who happened to be behind my car pointed it out to me.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Bros, how do we know if the radiator or aircon compressor is going to KO? I've been getting this strong vibrations on the steering wheel and are able to hear the loud fan noise from the engine area.. PML cannot detect the problem and i send in 3 times.. sigh..
