The onboard computer informed me that there is a failure on the rear left indicator light on my first day.

Looking at the bright side, I will probably never find out or find out much later if not for the BMW electronic monitoring system. At least I know I have to be extra careful when turning left or changing to left lane until I get it fixed.

For a previous Jap ride, I did not know the reverse lights have failed until a colleague who happened to be behind my car pointed it out to me.
Sometime it might b due loose connection. Open up d rear panel & check.

Sent to PML today. They are replacing the rear left lights at no cost.

Also told them the undercarriage seems to hit the bump while exiting ramp from carpark at j8  .

A few other minor faults such as front driver door a little hard to close and front passenger headrest stuck.

Driving a 118i for the time being which is quite nifty =)

Hope to get my car back tomorrow.:shakemyb:

What's this friction tape you speak of, and what did you use it for?

Cheers :)

Car's meant to be driven, not kept at home. :)

Tell that to my Mrs

Yesterday, got the break light fault warning on my 1 year old E92. I'm surprised the bulb blew so fast.

U only blew 1? :) I had 6 light bulbs blew over 1 plus year. In the end, its being traced to the faulty brake light housing cluster, which they changed to an upgraded one under warranty. Had both left and right "upgraded" to the new brake light housing cluster.

It's for the window rattling issue. Somehow with all the windows up, the seal isn't enough to prevent rattle (and the car wasn't even stiffened with aftermarket suspension, arb, struts then).

With the friction tape the vibration (and terrible noise) went away.

LOL! I guess I shouldn't complain :p

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

so has anyone hit like 60-70k without this "wear n tear".... i was driving a Mazda3 previously right up to 105K. I never had a failure on any stock items (brake pad was replaced FOC coz they had a better version in).

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

HI all,

Just had a part replaced:
Deflector lip, underbody shield.
Part of it came off, dragging on the
ground creating a ruckus.

wow they actually loan u a 118i?

i just got that faulty msg for my left indicator lamps last week, looks like a common problem for the FL 320i.

i'm sending in mine next week. Hope they lend me a complimentary car as well.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

this one is a classic. when i sent in my ride to fix the portable gps problem, i told them my headrest is stuck too. then, they ask whether i want to fix it. i said, nevermind leave it. small matter. my fist can bang the headrest down ..... kekeke. i'm scared that while fixing the headrest some other problem is created especially my seat is new with the new car smell. will rectify the headrest problem later hahahaha

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Brake vacuum pump leak is detected in my 3.5 yr old E90. Anyone here has this problem? Replacement and repair cost more than 1k at our favourite workshop in sinming. And i was told that my radiator and all the hoses are not in good condition. need to change.

Do u guys change the whole rediator juz 'when it's not in good condition' , i mean, when the car is 3.5 yrs old u dont expect everything is in tip top condition....then we have to change every damn thing...

Besides these 2 things, i had to change some o-rings, gaskets, oil filter housing, etc, due to some oil leak....

BM is one hell of an unreliable car to own.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Sounds common to me. I did change all those parts too in my last ride, at the age abt the same as yours. First was radiator exploded, followed by oil leak, and the worst thing was air-con compressor...

I believe as the workshop said the hoses are not in good condition, it could mean the hoses have become brittle due to wear and tear by heat and may leak anytime. So you can wait till the problem to surface or change it for pre-caution sake.

Cheers

In my case, the fault happened on 1st day of driving. PML service adviser mentioned that I can request for a loan car if the fault takes more than 1 day to rectify. Otherwise need to go through SE.

I'd rather leave the car at workshop, go shopping and return a few hours later but PML takes such a long time to rectify a single fault.

Also need to check for parts availability before sending in your car. I waited about 3 weeks for the part to arrive, while driving my car of course.

Their priority is as follows:

1. accident and claiming insurance i.e. full price (parts available)

2. paying customers i.e. discounted price (wait 1 week)

3. warranty item i.e. foc (wait 3 weeks)

4. ask for compensation (wait forever)

... ok last one is just a joke

Can push it back with sufficient force ... the service staff managed to push the headrest back with his bare hands. As owners, we tend to be more gentle :)

After a few days, I notice the headrest popped up again, probably one of my kids meddled with it. At least I know I can push it back forcefully and it won't spoil the seat keke.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

44K, 320i 2 yrs 2 mths .. so far, fixed squeaky windows, squeaky front seat, rocker head leaking, changed aircon front lourve knob and driver side hnadle due to comestic. But last week , I would said heavy stuff .. Cycliner head , oil pan and vacuum pump leaks !!! and Suspension giving out loud creaking noise ... thot stabiliser or some bushing crack , but can not find any .. now suspect is the suspension. Anybody experience this problem before ? Though most are still under warranty .. the car down time in workshop (utlization effieciency) is unbelievable ..

BTW, was told that you need to book the replacement drive .. the queue is very long , 3 months long .. BS .. frankly, I think they have a priority system ..
