Quite true... Maybe just mod a little bit more... Maybe just the BBK, bi-xenon and exhaust enough liao. Just do three more. :)

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

looking to purchase a 5yr old E90 soon. my bro-in-law mentioned that bmws very prone to a few issues like air con failure, shocks giving way and radiator problems. apparently they occur almost every 2 yrs and each issue is approx $2-3k to repair or replace.

i've only got exp with jap cars my prev 4 jap cars not a single issue with the above mentioned despite driving each for almost 3-5yrs.

would catering $2.5k annually be sufficient for standard servicing and the ad hoc repairs/replacements? or are we looking at $4-5k range?

appreciate some advice from E90 owners

Thanks :)

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Not every 2-3 years lah. A/C problem occurs around 5 yrs for me. Leaking radiator also around 5 years. Basically 5 years or 80-100k km is the "prime age" where all the shit happens. A/C can be in excess of $1k. radiator depending on your luck and different parts it's not too expensive to repair actually.

Shocks are pretty lasting and I would say they can easily go till 6-7 years before they start to really give way but you may be bothered by some noises due to worn bushings.

If it is 5 yr old + more than 100k, be prepared to pay once u take over. Buying a 5yr old E90 needs passion. W/o it, forget about it. It is a journey & not the destination.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

So far so good for me. *touch wood* I bought a 5 yrs old E90 325i, mileage 50K during collection.

Throughout the past 7 months, here's the list of things/problems:
1) Creaking sound at/around gear selector trimming (Ignored)
2) Did trans oil change @ 60K
3) Replaced rear pads and sensor @ 60K
4) Replaced stock air filter with KNN @ 60K
5) Regular oil change @ every 10K
6) A/C filter replaced @ 60K
7) Engine/trans mount replaced @ 61K after the bloody mount bolt broke!@!

Hopefully I will only require to replace parts like radiator/ac compressor after 80K.
Oh ya, when I bought the car, I was informed that top overhaul was done @ pml @ 35K (forgot what was the reason).

Take note of the gearbox, check for maintenance history of that. A friend of mine had intermittent problems relating to gearbox after 100K and was informed that gearbox overhaul will cost him 4~7K.

Is all E90 using the same gearbox regardless whether is 318/320/323/325..?

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

I got my Nov 06 E90 at 90k km. Collected in late July and spent about 4k plus for the past 3 months.

1) Spark plug + engine oil+ filter
2) Transmission oil Pan filter &ATF oil
3) Front lower control arms
4)Flywheel crank seal (change due to oil leak, need to bring down AT, labour very ex)
5) Engine mounting
6) Transmission mounting
7)Tensioner pulley
8) Ignition coils x 4
9) Front rotors+Brake pads+sensors
10) Brake system Flush + Renew
11) MidacBattery
12)Wiper motor assy (Suay Suay spoilt, not common, anyone kena before?)

Cross my fingers hope that the next major replacement will be 1 yr later.

Depends.

Pre-LCI all using ZF
LCI 318/320/325 probably all using GM. Only 335 using ZF.
