chg the wear & tear component, your ride will be ok. whn u drive it especially on highway @ 160+, you will love the ride till u forget all the trouble u experience. camry, mazda6, lancer, teana...no way near. Bring the car to ws, tell the technician to drive & check. There are so many bmw on the road, is nothing new. I changed to E90 fr corolla in Jan, after 1 mth, radiator leak, oil leak, wheel bearing wore, ignition coil burn....some more is pml service car. but after rectifying them,i love every moment whn i drive it.

Bro, try her to love her.....:lol2:

whoa... so many thing kaput ah...
I shall start hunting soon hehe

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Is the 325 2005 series still very susceptible to gear box issues like the 525??

Is it possible to detect during the pre purchase pro bmw ws inspection? Think most of the normal wear n tear I'm ok, just concern about the big ticket item like gear box.

Anyone? Thanks!

5 years 4 months. Mileage only 65K.

Replace due to faulty.
1. Eccentric sensor. SGD1K.
2. Aircon fan coil. SGD1.1K.
3. Leaks around engine. Decided to replace all o-rings and gasket inside the engine bay. One time remove every o-ring and gasket and replace all. SGD1K. Parts is cheap but labor cost more due to need to remove many parts.

Wear and tear,
1. Shock absorber for front and back. SGD1K.
2. Brake pad, sensor and disc for front and back. SGD1.3K

Itchy backside.
1. Upgrade halogen headlamp to LCI halogen headlamp come with CCF rings. Nice. SGD1k
2. Change wheel to LCI. SGD500.
3. Replace stock ICE to DVD panel player. SGD1K.

Money spend owning the Ultimate Driving Machine. Everyday eat roti.

wow scary cost indeed

my e90 3yrs 2mths 85,000km

exclude wat is fixed at pml during warranty... too many to list

wat i paid for so far
1. changed worn out shocks at 65,000km to new stock units
2. changed rear brake pads at 80,000km to new oem units
3. changed 3 out of 4 ignition coil. pml changed 1 foc during warranty when it failed at 60,000km

wat i need to pay very soon
4. slight engine oil leak at sump so likely to do one time change all gasket, rubber hoses, etc. estimated sgd1-1.5k
5. front brake pads

i signed up with twm and they fixed a leaking water pump for me but took 3 trips and my cab cost probably can pay for new water pump :shakehea:

getting nervous as i pass 80,000km and reaching 100,000km

Actually I was not aware that the sensor was faulty. My drive seem normal. During normal servicing. The workshop run standard diagnostic test after servicing. The error eccentric shaft sensor keep popping up. After reset error clear. Test drive and runs test again. The error come out again. So advise from the workshop is to replace if not it will cause valve/shaft timing/changing/operation or something not good.

The pcb sensor alone cost SGD500 plus from Eng Soon. With the labor cost and gasket need to replace cause the engine top cover need to remove. End up about SGD1K.

The workshop told me that it is uncommon for the sensor to fail. I am just one of the unlucky dude..

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

I just got my ride of 5 years plus repaired today ...

Tons of oil leakage from engine to oil sump gasket. Jerking of vehicle from gearbox. Had unpleasant experience at TWM and was recommended another place at AMK Autopoint. This guy is very professional in his service.

Didn't recommend replacing parts that are still usable hence saving me considerably. If you want a quote for your ride, pm me and I will send you his mobile.

I'm not a spokesperson for this shop. :) Just a happy customer.

Recently, I have judder n hesitation on my first 2 shift. Not sure what is the problem. Trans Oil pan n oil changed but still the same.

Anyone Shi Fu can any advise?

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

I don't know if it's the same problem as yours. It happened only on low gears. On several ocassion while changing gears from 1-2 or 2-1, a sudden jerk or slight delay of changing gears or while stationary, vehicle will also jerk from time to time. that technician actually fixed my problem while others quoted to change valve body, transmission oil, filter etc.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Please PM me the workshop so that I can ask them to check on mine too.

Thanks

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

drop by bvo and look for ah wee and see whether he can solve it with re-programming that costs $80+

no warning but when one failed, the car losses power and rides like a rodeo horse... very violent jerks but car can still crawl forward.

Re: E90 / E92 Wear and Tear Thread

Decided to change all my 4 ignition coils today due to sign of wear detected by BVO 2 weeks ago when I change my spark plugs.

After the change, the car is so responsive and acceleration much much smoother now. :)
Mileage 97k.
