Problem:
I experienced knocking sound undercarriage, my regular workshop diagnosed it was due to some coupling stuff and propshaft mounting. Workshop in siggapore quoted $150 for labor alone.
Solution:
i purchased the parts from stockist and proceeded to the workshop in JB. The workshop specialise in Bimmers. Below are things i did to my ride and the breakdown of the costs:
1 Engine Flush RM25
2 Ultra Utimax 10W60 5litres RM238
3 Oil Filter RM38
4 Coolant RM55
5 Labor charge for Change engine oil and reset RM50
6 Labor charge for change valve cover Gasket & long shaft mounting RM220
Car was send in around 10am and collected at 230pm. The staff send me to Tebrau Jusco which is about 15 mins drive away to shop.
Engine bay was washed for oil stains after the valve cover change.
Total costs RM626.

Overall good experience with the workshop. Might consider bringing in my own engine oil and filter for next service.

He speaks good english too! Told me the price and if I am ok to proceed. After changing he kept all the removed parts as proof. If you want, you can stay and watch, but I decided to go to Jusco for grocery shopping and massage. Drive in at 1pm, collected at 4pm. Francis drove me to and fro Jusco so save taxi fare.
Here are the removed parts and items changed.

To be fair, I think SG workshops are better in terms of giving me peace of mind because its kinda risky to drive in due to unfamiliarity with road and the not so safe JB image. SG price is reasonably higher due to sky high rental and high labour charges. Furthermore, took me abit longer to find the place due to new roads contructed though its only 20 min drive from JB custom. Verdict, small problems below $500 I will do in SG. Big problems will go look for Francis in JB. Hope this helps!

Not convinced, I brought car to my regular workshop in JB who specialises in BMW's. After diagnosis, mech replaced 2 o-rings at oil filter housing, and 4 more o-rings on the 2 VANOS solenoids. Viola! Oil leak no more and I'm poorer by less than RM270 - which includes my regular servicing. I brought my own oil, oil filter and air filter though....
And I must say that these guys are super pro! They even did a complete engine wash for me - meticulously cleaning EVERY item that has oil stain. Now my engine bay looks almost like new again! Hahaha!
If anyone here are feeling adventurous enough to head north to service your car, PM me for contact. Just to clarify, I'm NOT related to workshop in anyway. Just a happy customer after saving 90% of what the workshops here tried to charge me...
