Dear Bros,

Wld upgrading of stock 16" rims to 18" have much feel on driving?

1) Less comfort.. Feel more road noise & bumpy
2) Loss of power in acceleration & pick up fr start
3) Loss in FC.. Currently veri happi with my 10km/L on my E90
4) Change in turnin radius.. Have to reorientate parkin feel again

But of cos the immedate return is the chio chio rims which entice many owners to change..

Look forward to advise & feedback fr Bros here !!

Many thanks in advance !

You will get better handling and feedback at the steering.

2) Loss of power in acceleration & pick up fr start

Get lighter rims and tyres to get around this.

3) Loss in FC.. Currently veri happi with my 10km/L on my E90

See response to 2.

4) Change in turnin radius.. Have to reorientate parkin feel again

The overall diameter of the wheel and tyre should not have changed much if the correct tyre profile is used.

Thank for the feedback !!

Re: Effects of rims upsize

The "Up" side of up-sizing your wheels.

1. Better handing and responsive since your shoe base is larger now with more contact / grip to the road.

2. More chance for people to head turn and notice your ride.

3 .Higher chance of you to take care of your driving since you wouldn't want your beloved rim to get scratches from the road kerp LOL..

Re: Effects of rims upsize

this is not entirely true because 18" handling (straight or zigzag) & cornering should be better than 19"

Re: Effects of rims upsize

New 18" rims has fulfilled my asthetic needs.. But do feel that I have to rev more to get the same acceleration than before.
Handling wise dun feel much diff though..
But really love my 189 rims !!

Btw I took up the dealers suggestion & got same tyre profile of 225/40 for all 4 rims as it wld facilitate rotation & economic reasons..

Would there be any long term issues??

Re: Effects of rims upsize

there won't be any long term issue for getting all four of the same tire profile

Re: Effects of rims upsize

Change from stock to custom.

- Better response, don't ask me how but that's my personal experience.

Maybe nitrogen gas in tires works...Pitstops says one...hehe.

IMO - 19" has less comfort but better handling - Assuming same OD, the tyre profile is thinner for 19" and so its handling is more direct in feel.......

I second this as well. 19" will give more feedback to the driver but less comfort to 18". Just my 2 cents.

so I believe you didnt get the full 335 setup. For 335, the rear is wider than the front although the are all 18" :)

Yep, the rears should be 255 and not 225.
