I know everyone has their own preference when it comes to engine Oil. Care to share which worked best for your 3 series?

Miller? Motul? Castrol? Mobil? etc?

Any brand we should avoid?

Re: Engine Oils

I m conservative so I stay with Castrol as recommended by Bayerische Motoren Werke AG or Bavarian Motor Works.

Alternatively any brand that has engine oil that meet the standard specified by BMW.

Re: Engine Oils

castrol edge

Re: Engine Oils

Anyone tried X-rev before? I'm pretty impressed with their tests - running a car with NO engine oil from Tuas to Changi!!

Re: Engine Oils

Re: Engine Oils

Been using 1) BMW original oils (castrol blend i heard) most of the time to stick to LL-01 / LL-98 cluster, 2) Millers is fine, and 3) Redline is very smooth but this is not a LL-01 oil.

Great! Where did you purchase the oil from? Will buy and standby for next servicing. :)

Re: Engine Oils

I used to use Amsoil too! Until the time when my regular oil guy could no longer import reasonably priced Amsoil.... So I've been using Mobil1 since then, until recently - when I switched to Pennzoil...

Re: Engine Oils

Most racing teams uses redline, liquid moly, and of cos Motul... But seems rare that anyone uses motul here on this forum? Too ex or just not compatible with the engine??

I've quite a fair bit of motul oil left from my previous car (enough for 2 or even 3 servicing) and would like to use them.. They are 0w40 and 10w50... I am driving the F30 328i, can i use them?
