the point here is, the way i understand it, the folks from Axxx should already have an inkling of what he is searching for, in terms of pricing, and hence it really is wasting everyone's time to, at the end of the day,say no deal lah, cannot compare lah, my gun is bigger lah,and blah, blah, blah,. and to remark your rival's make as 'donkey' is really like 'dumbass', pun intended.

I rest my case. Exactly...

The "MU" in an Audi A4 is shortform for "Multitronic", its the CVT transmission they use for the model.

I used to own an Audi A4 1.8T before, well-built car with punchy turbo engine, the engine has been around for ages, abit rough but has nice torque, though its still linked to the multitronic transmission, so performance is a tad bit less responsive than it should be.

Imho, an Audi owner has to really look beyond the equipment specs, 'cos the current A4 model range for the singapore market are woefully under-equipped when compared to other cars in the segment, ie. current A4 models still don't come with items like memory seats, auto rain/light sensors, folding mirrors, cruise control, .mp3 compatibility, aux-input, list goes on etc... items which the latest BMW 320iA units all have as standard equipment.

Thats why the Audi SEs have to fight really hard to sell their cars based on other factors like build quality or design with the current A4s, they simply can't compete just based on equipment or spec.

Calling a 320iA a "donkey" is abit of a desperate measure though... :)

not too sure if build quality is better but definitely not the design imo...just take a look at the front and you can find some resemblance to a wide open mouth...thot the previous design was better

When the PA SE said 'donkey' did he sounded like Americano slang?
" Aaa man, that BMW aint look like no Donkey "

Or did he sound like Singapura Ah Beng slang...
" He Hor He Hor, machiam like Long-Key hor ":)

You damn dunny man!

Re: Experience at Premium Auto :(

Have driven the A4 2.0 MU quite a few times... the engine is very noisy + crude + no power
That is in addition to the over eager brakes, the super harsh suspension, wooly steering etc

320i's engine is no killer but it's a much much better proposition (although no where near straight six) + drive is much better

A4 1.8T is another rough and noisy engine. Turbo makes it more powerful and responsive but other flaws of the A4 are still present.

Have not tried the 323i but tried the 523i and 325i. Straight Six beats 4 pot Turbo anytime, anywhere. Apart from the well built and designed interior, Audi cannot compete on equal terms with BMW in terms of engines (save for the RS4).

At that price level, get the BMW lah :)

Re: Experience at Premium Auto :(

Have tested the Audi A4 B6 2.0MU before....No offence but the car is slow, steering unresponsive and interior very cramped. Everyone keeps saying Audi is well-built, but what exactly is well-built? Not to mention the ugly looking steering....Plus its FWD, unless its a quattro then its a different story. And the CVT transmission robs the car of its power and just cant beat the delivery of the Steptronics.

Nevertheless I think the A4 B6 exterior looks very nice especially with the right kit like Oettinger or Charactere...and the not to mention the Avants too.

The current B7s just dun do it for me. I'd get the 3 series anytime...

Re: Experience at Premium Auto :(

I agree at that price, the 320i is probably a better buy..

the after aug production has the additional split fold rear seats, cruise control and foldable mirrors.

Re: Experience at Premium Auto :(

hi tonyhawk,

i had the same experience when i bot the car. the audi salesman keep slamming bmw to convince me to buy the A4. say bmw this bad, that bad. i got very TL cos my first love was bmw and i've more or less made up my mind but thought go take a look at the A4 to be fair to myself.

i told him off with a straight face, 'you don't tell me what's bad about bmw, rather shouldn't you tell me what's good about the A4?' after that, he changed target and start trying to convince my wife. dum fella, cos i'm the one paying, so even convinced my wife also no use.

in a nutshell, it seems audi got to slam other cars, in particular bmw, to sell their cars.

Re: Experience at Premium Auto :(

hm, i've no affiliation with audi or PA, but maybe the lack of marketing skills on the SA's part shouldn't reflect the 'standard' of the car...
there are still some gd pts in audi, just maybe a different focus as compared with other brands. Maybe the branding and marketing staff at PA should do smth n educate their SAs on their marketing skills....

Well they can slam all they want because teh consumer also has the right to pass his/her judgement.

Slam BUT do not make false leads ...

Any decision so far? :juggle:

Re: Experience at Premium Auto :(

audi - still way off the calibre of BMW... its a fact we all know...

its like trying to overthrow a big clubs like Man U, chelsea, arsenal , liverpool...

eg. blackburn once won the league title... and after that? disappeared into obscurity...

AUDI can only try to sell based on build quality and maybe marque "uniqueness"... other than the RS4, the rest, IMHO, not worth the price...

the presence, and touch and feel is just not there...

To be fair, Audi fanatics will prob say that BMW is not worth the price for various reasons.

Anyways, let's close this episode. Stirring shit was not my agenda. Just wanted to sahre my tots... Thanks for all your comments.

hmmm

this is a BMW forum, so you shouldnt be surprised at the passion from people here...

there arent really many reasons why BMW is not worth the price, but there are many reasons why AUDI isnt worth the price..

in any case, I think in an open forum, there will be diversity of opinions..

and no, I dont think you have stirred any s***.. rather you have just opened up topics that lead on to topics.. and hey, thats what an active and enthusiastic forum is about!

cheers and merry christmas!
