F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

Thanks for all your responses. The exact dilemma is really, the magic of M versus the dated look. If the F10 is coming out next month, then the E60 will very soon be "an outdated model". The 535i will then just be a sedan, people carrier, convenience car, but with enough poke to drive brisk. But even when modded, will not feel magical. But the M5 is a truly special car.

Problem with C3P0's idea of going with my heart, is that I dont feel for the M5 either. (my heart goes out to a 5yo F430 going at about 400+, a bit over budget). The F575M is very very expensive to maintain, and will be very difficult to let go, unless I intend to drive till the 10th year. Luckily in my opinion an F430 does not look very much dated even when the 458's out. (look fresh for at least for a few more years hopefully, and not as dear as a 575)

I'm still completely undecided between the M5 and the 535i. Perhaps for the money, I should ship in my own 550i. But homologation will be a headache.

hmmm... or i might just really go ahead and get a used lancer, then wait for the F430 price to come down...

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

I would go for the ///M. Dated in a couple of years: yes......fun to drive: Hell yeah! I'll take driving pleasure over looks in this case. That V10 is sex on wheels.

Lastly, an ///M, no matter how old gets respect.

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

RB, what about M3? Its an M and its not dated and its around the price range.

Went car shopping today and saw the limited edition M3....I can't sleep tonight.

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

Arg, I see, if M5 is not what ur heart desires, then just get a temporary sedan and then get the F430 when the time is correct.
卧薪尝胆。
hitmee pls translate heh heh

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

Go for Chris Bangle on E60 M5, Rather than Dutch head on F10,

Regards

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

RB, my 2 cents. If you had to ask that question, it means you are not ready to commit to owning a used Ferrari. I decided against getting a 3y old quattroporte and ordered the F10 535 instead. Since I don't believe in having 2 cars.

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

If I am in your shoe and dont really need a family cruiser/sedan....my choice is F430....but will not be suitable for everyday car...so buy a Geely as "kar tuck"..its now Volvo mind you.

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

M5 would really be my choice. Its a tested and proven model, looks good stock, problems would have been ironed out. Last of V10 NA perhaps and even 8yrs down the road, i have an impression ppl would still go woah, thats an M5.

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

Shawn, if it is between the F10 535 and the e60 M5, go for the M5.

Other than the dated feeling, nothing on the M5 is inferior to the 535. At 1.7-1.75 ton, the pedal feel on the N55 will be rather sluggish. And since you are a trackkie, the 535 will be a poorer choice if you factored that criteria in. Two forumers you could speak to for opinions: (1) Omar, who switched from an e92 335 to an e92 M3 and (2) D_Iceman, who switched from an e92 335 to an E60 M5. One converted to V8, the other to V10, and both previously had heavily modded 335s. Of course, it might not be fair to compare the N54 and the N55 blocks, but on paper, the differences are minute. And this is strictly on a performance standpoint, nothing on the "newest model" criteria.

If it is between the F10 550 and the e60 M5, go for the V8 550. The performance gap is much narrower.

+1 ... a ///M is always a ///M that commands a 2nd look from passer-by and give that ///M feels to the driver that could not be substitued by heavy mods :D

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

Go for the M5 Shawn, it's the last V10 maybe in the next 7-8 years. There is always the facelift F10 3-4 years down the road.

Either one, it's a happy problem :)

Re: F10 535i or (PI)E60M5?

go 535 for the turbos, cos we all know that with just a handful of aftermarket parts and a piggyback, the turbos will kill any big cc NA... regardless of situation, and especially on track :laughlik:
