Wanted to reply to Platform's "Bring own oil, must pay Corkage?" but thread is closed.

Had my 1st service today at PML and was pleasantly surprised total bill is $80 + GST (brought my own German Castrol Edge 0W 30 paid $67 for 5 bottles, no corkage leh).

Service - Std Scope $22
Engine oil service (oil supplied) $33
Oil Filter $25

Had to buy 1 litre BMW shampoo $17 to use $100 PML voucher.

Compare this with my previous Toyota ride - basic service is $253!:yikess:

OK will monitor if 0W 30 level drops. Still got remaining 0.8 litre to top up.

Re: F30 1st service

F30 316 1.6L uses 4.2L of engine oil?
Almost close to a 2.0L engine. I recall JDM 1.6L engine use less than 4L.

That's what PML service person advised me to bring. On calculation it may be less than 4 litres -- bought 5 x 1 quart (0.946litr), left about 0.8 litre.

To be exact is 3930ml if less of 800ml.
I do bring 5x 946ml of engine oil for my E90 320i during service. Remain 500ml, so is 4230ml.
Just a tot and hope they din overfilled by taking consideration of some engine oil consumption. :)

Re: F30 1st service

At what mileage do we do our first servicing?

When I start my car, it still say 12,000km! Has been like since collecting the car. Is that normal?

Why Castrol? Can use oil such as royal purple?

Paisay, so many question. Previous cars all Japanese.

Re: F30 1st service

Yes, i have good experience with PML, brought my Liqid Moly 5W/40 and service cost my F30 335 less than $100. Agree we should use 5W/40 min, for all these new turbo engine.

Thx bro, did two servicing at PML already both

Re: F30 1st service

Anyone gone for service without bringing own oil? What would be the charge line for oil?

Re: F30 1st service

Shouldn't one use oil recommended by BMW since car still under warrenty? Probably be safer in case something does go wrong, they can't blame you for using for not using recommended product?

No need paisay:D, we are all learning and sharing from each other.
My service indicator dropped to 7000km after 4 mths, and I did 1st service at 8000km.
Castrol oil - see http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/bmw-3-series-owners/80194-german-castrol-saf-xo.html
