I do have wind noise but not the whistling wind noise

same here, i also have the wind noise + road noise (i guess it's the thin profile tyres that add to the contribution)...not the whistle or probably i had being driving too slow to experience that:laughlik::laughlik::laughlik:

Then you prob one of the lucky ones without this problem, it's pretty obvious actually, like your windscreen leaking , and air from outside gushing thru lor

Re: F30: Wind noise updates

This is what I did on my F20.

Fill up the rubber seal with fish tank tube
2012-08-28113524.jpg

Complement it further with rubber seal on the door
2012-08-28113412.jpg

Additional rubber seal on the other portion of the door panel
2012-08-26211633.jpg

2012-08-26211612.jpg

Rubber seal all the way to the rear door
2012-08-26211724.jpg

After all these, I can hear the sound of silence after I close the door and closing the door sounded good too.

Wow forrestgum that's elaborate, F20s also got wind insulation problem?

Re: F30: Wind noise updates

Hi Growler,

Yes the 1 are not spared too. Can hear wind noise from 90km/h onwards and it get really bad after 150km/h. Have not tried going above 150km/h yet on the new fix but so far it managed to keep the wind noise out even after 90km/h.

Like I said in the previous posting, the "thump" closing of door sound sweeter now!

Re: F30: Wind noise updates

I like the fish tank tube solution ...... quite innovative.

Re: F30: Wind noise updates

Anybody tried to install sound insulation material in their F30 to improve the sound problem? Don't know if this will help, hope someone can share experience.

Sound insulation in the wheel arches may help with general road noises but wind noises coming thru the windows may need new seals, I'm having mine done at PML now, hope problem will be solved

Re: F30: Wind noise updates

Hi Bros,

I am new here. I am considering between new 328 or new 520.
My left brain wants comfort and quiet ride but my right brain wants a more sporty ride.

May I ask is the sound insulation really bad? I am currently driving A4 B8 and I am ok with the sound insulation of A4. How does 328 sound insulation compare to A4?

If similar, I will go for 328 instead of 520.

Thanks for advice

Best is go for test drive. Noise level very subjective it all depends on individual. 520 and 328 are both very different cars to drive. 520 more luxurious, 328 more agile and sporty. Go for test drive and decide.

Think both will have their own fair share of problems and pleasures lah bro

Re: F30: Wind noise updates

According to the BMW agent.. Looks like 328i has this issue and it's random.. Ranging from Poor insulation of engine to poor insulation materials for door/side windows.

328i is 4inline engine which definitely is sporty. Much noiser.. For those who cant stand this noise.. Buy the 320i or get the 335i
inorder to bash out the sound.

As for window insulation problem. It is definitely random. I am getting my F30 320i this coming Saturday.
I told the agent specifically on this 2 problem. I wont accept a car like this and will request a 1 to 1 exchange in case this happens.

Guys how much is SG selling F30 for both 320i and 328i?

I bought the f30i cost 68,800.. include tax and insurance.. road tax is about 58 dollar and insurance about 1.2k annually..
