Forced Induction

Has anyone heard of CAG Autosport Supercharger? Their website says there is a kit available for 523i. Is this a good way to get more hp?

CAG AUTOSPORT Supercharger Kit

On this kit an additional electronic unit is used that modifies the airflow signal and also the fuel pressure is automatically adjusted in conjunction with the boost level. This works in harmony with the factory programs and avoids the issue as we have seen with other kits of engine check light going on or other problems.

Applications:
BMWBMW E46 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i,330i.
E39 520i, 523i, 525i, 528i, 530i.
E60 520i, 523i, 525i, 530i.
E65 730i, 745i. E66 730i.
X5 3.0i, 4.4i, 4.6i.

Re: Forced Induction

Definately more bhp.. My 1.6 litre supercharger can pump out 210 bhp.. Imagine how monsterous a 2.5 litre would be if properly tuned..

Re: Forced Induction

Why don't you give them a call & see if they have any SC kit for the N52 engine.

Re: Forced Induction

Depends on what you're looking for. Generally speaking superchargers tend to significantly improve low-RPM torque whereas turbos tend to perform better on the mid-range and high-end. In most cases, assuming that everything was thought out properly, it will be a net gain.

Re: Forced Induction

Yours if im not wrong is a M54 block right??.. why not go for the ASA blowers, i mean they've proven to work on the M54 blocks very well and they're very well built, never a problem with them. Plus the guys over at BVO and J4C are very familliar with that system.

Re: Forced Induction

N52 523i valvetronic = no SC kit, same goes for N46 320i E90

Titanic : 1st of all, wat kinda mod budget u have for a SC kit??

Flexible budget, I want to compare the bhp gain with the $ spent. If it's worth it then no problem. I tried the ECU map. Didn't work out. Hardly any bhp gain at all. Mine is the N52, not M54. I will call CAG to check.

Re: Forced Induction

Checked with CAG today. No kit available for N52 Valvetronic. Another deadend. This is very disappointing.

Dont give up yet. There is always a way. Worst case, sell 523i and buy 525i leh:)

Re: Forced Induction

I've checked every where liao.

Nobody will produce any SC kit for the N52 valvetronic engine.

The magnesium block ain't strong (only supe light in weight), that's why they change the block when they develop the N54 twin turbo engine.

535i coming soon. At least there is hope!

Re: Forced Induction

YOu mihgt have more luck trying NOS thatn S/C honestly. THe n52s are only light, as what wilman has said, and cannot cope with the additonal power and torque.

I only want to get about 50bhp more. I don't believe the engine block is a constraint.

ONLY get 50 more? to even get 10 is godsend. If u want 50 or more, SC is the way to go if your engine can take it. Its either can or cannot. if you want 50 or more as easy as you can get, an evo by changing exhaust system and CAI can give you around there. BMW you can wait long long as NA engines are inherently different in character on mod outcome.

Re: Forced Induction

50 bhp more??? Thats alot man!

Even the evo9 guys replace thier stock "magnesium" turbocharger! They Kaa-putt with just a little higher boost. The lightweight N52 "magnesium" block is only meant for NA. Period.
