hey dantito I've got exactly the same one. It's made in china, brandless, and the manual is written using english words but the sentences dont make sense. You need to read the chinese part of the manual to understand what they are trying to say. Bought it off the computer shop at republic plaza 1st floor, but its $70+ only. i was just window shopping but bought it coz its really quite cheap, just to try try. The shop owner said if I didnt like it just return to him loh, very steady and friendly. But for $70+ only I dont have the heart to return something I already used and tried. I realise the resolution is quite poor, and you can only see the license plate at most 1 car length away. But i think for what its worth, its quite good already.
The things i like about it is
1) it can also be battery powered (coz I dont like cig lighter wires dangling, nor installing it and wiring it to my car battery) and it uses a standard nokia battery.
2) small and light
3) you can use it as carpark surveillence also (if you wire it up to the car batt)
4) it comes with pretty much everything: windscreen mount, cig lighter adaptor, usb cable. You only need to provide your own sd card.
5) both video and pic mode. And also got shock mode.
its about 300mb for 10 minutes, means a typical trip is 1gb.
but what i dont like is that it doesnt have a preview screen (you need to hook it up, or take out the SD card and read it to see the view) but its okay if you experiment a bit with mounting positions and know where to put it.
The windscreen mount holder is very steady, but in a very strange way, when the car vibration magnitude and frequency reaches a sweet spot, and the harmonics all line up, the holder will vibrate for about 1-2 seconds. However I have since dispensed with it altogether, and I simply blu-tack it to the windscreen coz its so light. And at the end of the trip, I simply pull it and store it in the car, so people will not break your windscreen to steal it. And using blu-tack is very very convenient.
The part of it not being HD and capturing far-away license plates is not really much of an issue to me, coz it serves as only a protection to yourself, and during a dispute or incident, where you need to see plates clearly, you are either close enough already, or you can dismount it and in one continuous shot bring it down and closer to the other car and even shoot the other car driver. For $70+, i think its quite good already.
For people thinking of investing in a good camera like me, I recommend trying something super cheap first, to see how it incorporates into your driving. The other thing is, if you really need protection, having one front-facing is actually not enough. What if you are sideswiped.
