FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

For all you Cabrio drivers....got the swaybars for M3 installed, then got worried that the 'creaking' sound for a Cabrio might get worse....answer : NOT AT ALL....

So now i have a tighter car, i am breaking a lot less into a corner, feels great...

I set mine a t : Hard in front, Medium at rear...

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

That is a better balanced handling setting for the cab.
Congrats dude.

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

It's anti-roll bar or swaybar NOT strutbar.

regarding noise,
if anything it's actually a contact between the bar at the rear with the camber arm.

as for the ride quality...
anti roll bar doesnt make a ride any harsher nor smoother. U only benefit from it when you are cornering ( reduces body roll). In a straight, one can't tell whether u hv an uprated bar or not

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

Thanks...glad to hear that a sway bar does not increase noise or make the ride any harsher...will consider installing it...

For a strut bar, then noise and harsher ride will be more apparent?

Pls pardon me for formy ignorance...

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

Strut bar or so called tower brace is installed under the engine bonnet ( there is oso rear strut bar as well but not many people install it ).....and it's to stiffen up the chasis to reduce flex. No sound , no adverse effect on ride quality too.

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

thks for your kind pointers...last qn...so which is considered more cost effective then? Sway, strut or (eeks)both?

Thinking of doing something to improve handling at bends/corners...not sure which to do...strut seems a cheaper option though...

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

Swaybar is wot u need for that but it's probably gonna cost you easily 2-2.5 times more than strutbar.

Strutbar...if u ask 8 outtta 10 people who hv installed strutbar, they won't be able to tell you the difference b4 n after even when cornering hard.

But for Antiroll bar, 10/10 will be able to tell you how much difference that thing can make to improve handling.

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

Okay, so I promised Wilson a long(er) write-up... went down to BVO today to get the Swaybar installed. Took some pictures:

Firstly, car is hoisted up:

Kinda surprised to see how thin the stock sway bars were. These were for the rear:

02.JPG

A comparison between the stock ones (above) and the UUC sways (below). The difference is not just in the thickness, but also the weight. The UUC sways are heavier, especially the front. Also, the bushing for the UUC are using PU, which is supposed to be lifetime warranty.

The rear sways installed:

Front is similiar, in fact, easier because there is more accessibility.

The hardest part according to Ah Wee is getting the rear sways back onto their linkage. He had to literally crawl under the car.

So, an hour later, all was installed.

Took it for a short spin around Sin Ming area, during cornering, significantly less body roll.

:inlove:

Will give an update once I get the chance to push the car...

Re: FS : Brand New UUC GENII Swaybar

Had the swaybar installed yesterday... even with my very stock car, I could feel a remarkable improvement in handling and significantly less body roll when negotiating sharp bends @ high speeds.

Must say I never enjoyed driving this car so much before that I actually drove off without paying Ah Wee!! :lol2:

Definitely a good "investment" to have... so what's next Wilson??
