Re: Garmin GPS

Ah Beng had the honour of seeing the GARMIN GPS in action on board ChickenBackSide's woolala BMW. All I can say abt this GARMIN is.....even if you are a topo-king/queen, it will be able to locate and end up at the right spot.

.....COOOOLLLLLLLLLL......See pay Cooolllll arh !!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Re: Garmin GPS

Eggz,

I know of people who wired the charging of the Garmin to the on/off switch of the engine. When engine is switched on, charging begins. When engine stops, charging stops. In that way, u will never experience a Garmin with flat battery but the Garmin battery wld surely wear out more easily due tot the frequent charging. Juz for info!

Thanks for the info T6 and CBS, I'll want to do this if/when I get a Garmin Nuvi.

I think the nice thing about these GPS devices vs built-in ones is you can always transfer them between cars or bring them on holidays.....

Latest update I got just this Sunday from Perfect Watch is that they have ordered the Nuvi, in fact, there is a model coming in for Singapore called Nuvi 320, which will have the standard Garmin Singapore & JB map included, they are likely to sell it for around $1,100.

When it arrives in couple of weeks' time, we could all go and test out the interface to see if it would prompt for state when doing address search. Frankly, even if it does, it is still a good GPS unit to own.

Great news. Do jio me when the time comes. U got my number keke.

Re: Garmin GPS

Does this Nuvi 320 read out road names? or just "turn left, turn right"

All Nuvi reads out road name. The model progression goes like this

First gen:
300 - for europe market
350 - for US market

2nd Gen: - comes with blueetooth, now act as car kit as well :)
310 - for Europe
360 - for US market

For this 320, it is not confirmed if it has bluetooth or not, will only know when it comes in.

360 sold in the US for close to US$900, but that comes with full US City Select maps, which is quite expansive. Europe maps are even more expensive.

The fact that we could get Malaysia and Singapore maps from malsingmaps.com, may need to think carefully which model to get.

Usual disclaimer applies ... hehe

Hi KT,

That is strange because when I bought the C320 last week, the boss in Perfect Watch told me that Nuvi i still not available and they dunno when it will be available.

I countercheck again today and was told the same. They have placed order since last Otocber and have no ideal when the Nuvi can arrive hear. Probably you might mix up the Nuvi with the C320??

Let me try to verify it again .. I am sure the person told me its a Nuvi.
