So finally bought myself a Y-Cable at Sim Lim Sq..
So far so good, but I just noticed that I can't change song thru controller buttons on the steering (but change volume no problem), instead have to change songs thru my iPod.

My ride is 325i YR2005 c/w iDrive.
Can anyone enlightening me.. if really can't change songs thru controller buttons on the steering.. is there any other way like using iDrive to change song??

u need to have a USB input socket

My Y-Cable.. the 3.5 connected into the AUX-IN & the USB connected to the cig socket (using a USB convertor).. but still cannot change song via steering wheel buttons.

Is it that my ride is the older model of the E90, that doesn't comes with the actual USB socket (but instead is the cig socket).. so cannot be done..??

u need the built in USB port found on the LCI models. By using a USB adaptor plugged into the ciggy lighter socket won't work :)

OIC.. since my Y-Cable is long enough.. I will find a suitable place to put my iPod for easy access in case I wish to select songs.. thanks & cheers

Any idea of the USB port is available in 09 E60 models?

i tried playing my Singtel Amped Songs using my iphone's output and to the Aux jack. The song quality was terrible ! Is the Aux jack in BMW really that lousy ? it was not so bad when i used it in a Japanese car's aux jack !

So far mine is working fine on a $10 Y-cable on my non-LCI model.
Don't know this $10 cable is it the same cos I have not seen the original one selling by PML

I brought it from Sim Lim Sq.. if I still can remember is #04-23.. otherwise, you can get it at 2nd level, the shop located beside service lift (maybe 2 or 3 shop away) at the back lane.. you just have to ask around.. sure can find

Hi Jarren,
pre-LCI has only AUX and does not has a USB port.
how do you connect the Y cable and use iDrive to control?

Where does this connect to on the audio headset?
Don't see any usb input lei?

it shld be under the armrest, next to the ciggy lighter socket. if u dun see, that means u dun have it :)

What about using the USB head to connect to a ciggy charger head and plug in to the lighter socket? Anyone here try before?

hi guys, wondering if anyone can help my case. Mine is without any AUX or USB socket. Wondering is there any way i can use the Y cable? i only have the Cigg socket. Mine is 520i/yr2004
