For used BMW, it is always a big no no unless 1 is willing to do research. It is best left for those passionate drivers.

BMW => Bring more worries or Bring money to workshop.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

Some tyres have a run flat and a non run-flat model.

The way they name it determines if it is run flat. The name varies between manufacturers.

I think Bridgestone names it "RFT" and Michelin calls it "RSC".

Look at the sidewalls of your tyre. Look for the RFT or RSC logo. If you have other brands, need to Google for what they call run flat. There's also SSR, DSST, ZP... blah blah.

So far I think BMW comes with Michelin, Dunlop and Bridgestones.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

BTW if you want some good service I don't recommend visiting workshops on weekends -- especially if it is your first time there. If you have a lot of questions, uncertainty or doubt, better go on weekdays (Mon-Thurs) when they are a little more free to attend do you so you will have your questions answered. Weekends are usually packed.

BTW what is wrong with your current tyres?

gosh! so many brands and name for a runflat, how to select?!?! *cried*
My colleague told me that my current tires have a very bad inner wear. Maybe due to alignment problem, so i tot of dropping by a workshop and see what they can do about it.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

Alignment different workshop from servicing workshop though some covers both. Instead of one stop shop, google, search forum and do something one by one. Very nice senior forummers will try to help but do a search first.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

mean I have to travel here and there just to get my car done. :(
Yup, I'm looking through the forums for more details. I tot I could get my tires change at the workshop too. :/

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

IMHO - Try to change your tyres then do the alignment.

As for tyres - let us know if you are into comfort or performance .....

Everyone will have their favourite workshop. I just go down to Leong Seng and chat with the guys there before I decide on my tyres. Then again, we all have our favourite tyres...

If the wear is already very bad, eg. one half of the tyre is bald, might be better to change a new set and do alignment after that.
