I mean which one lighted up .....

I thought CEL (Check Engine Light) refers to the yellow symbol that looks like the engine. Usually it appears when some error was detected by the ECU, eg spark plug non-firing/misfiring, etc.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

Those generic OBD scanners may not read BMW specific errors, especially special modules like gearbox, CIC, airbag, etc. A BMW specific OBD cable and software will let you see much much more. Sometimes even without CEL there's errors in the car that you can't see with the generic OBD stuff.

Generic OBD scanners are really cheap though, so it is still good to keep one. Saves you some hassle. Usually if I get a CEL I'll clear the code and see if it comes up again. If it comes up then I am quite sure I have problem.

Have a good week guys.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

Hey! passby hankook, any recommendation? The only 2 run flat they carry are s1 evo and sessanta. Any other tyre recommendation around that area?

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

I used Hankook Ventus prime on my old Japanese car. Not too bad, but it wears very fast and gets noisy after 10-15k mileage.

I would suggest you go for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. It's a proven tyre.

Beng Heng Tyre is just around the corner @ Toh Guan.

hee thanks! i dont speed, just normal driving. normal tyre should be good enough for me right? anyway what about sessanta tyre? dont seem to have any information about this tyre on the net.

Re: Hello! i'm new and need advice.

Er... tyre is not only about speeding. It's about safety.

In emergency, e-brake... your tyre matters a lot. In the rain, even more important.

Car at 100kph e-brake is no joke. BMW is heavy. If you never try before lousy tyre, go and rent a car then e-brake from 80kph. You see how far the car skid.

Singapore weather is quite f up. One day sun one day rain. We need good all round tyres for safety. Don't need to buy like super duper expensive tyres but also don't save on tyres. Buy something decent.

How big is your rim? 17" tyres around $200+/pc is decent.
