HID conversion for E39

Arsenal62,

Whereabouts did you get your brackets made? Or did you crafted it yurself? Sure looks really professionally done and not surprised that the folks at BVO actually thought it was original!

Got my mess cleaned up today, a pretty simple set-up, nothing comparred to what you have under your hood....tempted to do something similar to yours when I change to clears....been hunting around for the plastic adjusters but seems like nobody carries it here in Singapore.

Once again, thanks for the pictures, they really pointed me in the right direction.

I got it done by myself but finishing is so so  but the mounting position is right. You can't get the adjuster of the headlamp in SGP, beside this the angel eye headlamp is too difficult to dismantle and need great skill. If your car is still under warranty claimed it from PML.

Try get more E39ers with aftermarket Xenon to fab the bracket with better quailty, paintwork or plating and improvement using mine as a sample, I think shld be in the region of $30 to $50 per pair if can get more than 3 set? (I might get one for myself :) )

i driving an e60, does not have xenons cos its the earlier batch. where can i fit a xenon conversion kit which won't burn a hole in my pocket (if i do it at PML)?

Bro, I have finally joined the wagon and installed Hella low beam xenon. Thanks to Arsenal 62 for keeping me company throughout the 2 hours installation and also for his instructions to the installer on how to mount the ballast brackets like factory fitted ones. Now swee swee. Installation costs was $90 all in.

I did get the low beam faulty warning message though but Bernard of BVO (he did not do the install) managed to remove that by using a scanning tool to tell the car that it is fitted with xenon or something like that.

If u need the contact for the installer juz to do the mounting, let me know yah. Now the installer got "experience" liao. ;)

$514.50 for the Hella xenon and $90 for installation. :wavey:

Hi T6,

I am also interested to install at some stage the Hella low-beam xenon. What is the costs of it?

By the way, basic question is when LTA inspection, can pass or not ? Or they do not penalize you for it. I heard it is only at road blocks that xenons get caught.

thanks for advice.

JHLim,

Any after market installation even of OEM xenon is strictly illegal unless u get it done thru PML who will then install and send your car for inspection and get all the paperwork approved. U pay much much more.

Whether u attract the TP's attention or not in my opinion depends on how bright your xenon is. I understand those from PML are typically 4300k. Mine is 6000k. It is brighter but not to the extreme. A fellow e39 bro with similar 6000k set up passed inspection without problem. But if u go up to say 8,000k, then the light becomes very blueish and TP may get suspicious.

Some installers may advise u to juz take out the xenon bulbs and replace with halogen ones whenever u go for inspection. Quick job if u know how to do it. For me, I will juz take my chance when inspection time comes.

Feel free to check out my set-up before u install. Juz PM me for a meet. Cheers.

huh, halogen bulbs can fit in a xenon set up? don't forget they will turn on your lights to check too!
where did u get your hella xenons? means the bulb n ballasts are all hella brand or ?
also, is your headlight setup on your e39 the projector kind?
mine is not, so is it advisable to install?

All my items are from Hella as it comes as a set.

The installer will use your existing H7 holder for your low beam headlight bulb and modify it to take the xenon bulb. After that, it is just plug and play and a question of mounting the ballasts nicely.

My e39 is already the angel-eyes type so I think it is the projector type, though I stand corrected. After installation, when one looks at the entire headlight cluster, won't be able to tell it is xenon fitted until the xenon is switched on.

hi -

can your same setup be used for '04 e46 sedan?
and can i get my fog lights to match the headlights if i were to change them?
Thanks! :)

Xenon light ? I like.

ok ok (*itch*)

Who else want to do the Xenon ? Count me in.

I have just done my 3 year inspection, so the next one is not due till 2 years later which mean should be safe for a while. The only thing is what if caught at road block ? How much is the fine ? got demerit point etc ?

So the effect is really the nice white "Xenon" light right ? Or will it look like "cheapo blue light" on a lot of jap car on the road ?

Hi,

I just went to take a look at T6 xenon install. Looks really good no mess of cables n pretty clean install I think. Xenon looks very nice with little sign of any bluish hue. I will do the install hopefully next week. I hear from Andy that ED520 is also keen to install it.

yup i also keen to install but i afraid will cause too much glare n attention cos my headlights is not projector type...n i afraid cannot get rid of the warning indicator....

There are Hella xenons for e46 as well. Whether the same set or not, I am too sure but I think it shd be the same coz e46 also using H7 type headlamps. And yes, there are people who install xenon on fog lamps as well. The supplier can supply u as long as u tell him your bulb holder type. For your e46 fog lamp, shd be either H11 or H4, I can't remember liao.
