Moral of the story.... get a video cam for your car people.

Absolutely totally agreed! In fact, I'm now considering if I should install the rear cam... hahahah! I already have the front cam installed for quite some time now.... (and witnessed a couple of accidents too)... =P

Re: Hit and Run

Because police bo chap
Should start a protection company

Consultation fee: $50
Damage his car: $500
Make him pay for the damages with whatsoever reason: $2000
Rape his daughter: $200
Burn his house: $1000

Kanna caught by police already they will ask you, "Why didn't you consult the police on this matter?"
For answer, please refer to the first sentence.

Anyway, just kidding uh. Watch too much movies already..

Re: Hit and Run

A truck hit my car a few years ago, drove away without stopping and we didn't get to note the van's registration number. The repair costed S$2K. Although I intended to pay for the repair, my insurer advised me to claim against my own insurance to safeguard myself against claims made by the other party later. They know of cases when the total claim can be very costly, so no point paying S$2K myself and my NCD will still be affected when the other party claims.

A year later, when I am sure there are no other claims against me, I paid back my insurer the S$2K, have my NCD reinstated to 50% and have them to reinstate my clean driving record.

Re: Hit and Run

These fucking truck drivers. My friend (and 2 other cars, so 3 cars total) just got crushed sideways by a container truck drifting lanes on the expressway over the weekend. Chinese driver came out looking sleepy. Now if it was just one car, I think she would have been flattened and truck would have probably ran away.

So I learnt a lot of important things after hearing all these horror stories - always note down the license plate of the party that hit you, especially M'sian motor bike AND lorry/goods vehicle/commercial vehicle. Sometimes the driver is unlicensed to drive, they hit you and run away, their insurance company disclaim responsibility, it becomes a fucking civil case. You have a very difficult case against the company.

An ex police officer in M'sia tells me SPF is fucked up. Despite their corruption (in M'sia), when tasked to take a proper action they are able to discern right from wrong, and not just wayang their way out. Any intent to cheat is considered a criminal offence and should be taken to task by the police.

Here's a near accident I almost got into recently... and lao hero vios decided to come and fuck me instead. Siao

Re: Hit and Run

Bimmerman's car is brand new.
And if planning to use for long term.
I recommend to REPLACE the parts rather than to cut cost and REPAIR them.
and u r supposed report to insurance within 24 hours no matter you plan to claim or not., the worst case is where the truck driver claims against u where u didn't report at all.

I believe your solution is the best and safest with regards to this case

Re: Hit and Run

NCD protector is only good if u don't change insurer. Once change insurer, NCD protection using void and u will be loaded with new insurer.

just curious.. if yr ride in in the avatar.. do you get good rate on the premium?
a friend of mine got lousy rate for the M as he had the claim record in GIA (of accident not to his fault) even though he settled the claim himself.
curse and swear coz his M premium is way too high even after NCD.

Should you not go to the right most lane or second most right? That road has five lanes and they can't go right if boxed out.

Re: Hit and Run

If maintaining lane discipline 3 lanes turning left should occupy all 3 straight going lanes. theres 6 lanes in there:

left | straight | straight | straight + right | right | right

to make a right turn they have to already keep right before turning. they were in the MIDDLE lane and cut out into my lane.

I thought so too after comparing with what my friends are paying for their M3s.
I was told the Ferrari collision contributed to how insurers quote their premium, ie based on engine capacity, turbo/super-charging and bhp. The new F10M falls under the category of supercars and premiums are significantly higher.

Re: Hit and Run

Bros,
Thanks for your many comments and tips. Just an update. I called the cement company and got the boss' number. He was cooperative and said his supervisor would get hold of the driver to call me. This guy then called me and started distorting the story. Said I never horn, say he doesn't know if I wanted him to stop. He even said he noticed my broken side mirror! Claims that I went into his lane. Kept playing down the hit and run part. He knows if he didn't call me, he's in deeper shit. After a shitload of crap, he knew he didn't make sense. He then offered to pay a miserable $300!! What an insult. Went to AMK Autopoint to my usual body shop. Got a quote of 1.4k with mirror. Called PML about the cost of the mirror. Didn't know that the side mirror can cost so much. 1.4k!! The glass mirror itself cost $600. Quickly drove to PML. As usual, PML just changes parts, no repairs. Easy job but take 10 times longer than standard workshop. Quoted me 6k because he wanted to change the entire bumper. Like this, anyone can be a PML supervisor. If in doubt, just change the part.
I also called Sime Insurance, and a helpful lady advised me that the best case scenario would be a 50-50% split of costs. I also managed to get a quote on my premiums after the loading assuming cost is about 5k. On the conservative side, my premiums would go up by $400 and on declining basis till 3rd year where the loading would disappear. This is already considering I have NCB protector.
I figured that I have to fork out another $1.1k or which $500 is excess I have to pay anyway. So that's an extra $600. This could pay for the loading for next year. Besides, PML change everything, give wheel alignment and change my rim oso. Paint job should be better. So for piece of mind, I'm claiming. Did the sums, won't be too bad off. Besides, there's a chance the TP may wake up from deep slumber and take the case and split the cost as 50/50. My actual cost to MSIG would be way less than 5k, and my loading won't be so bad.
I declined his offer and that's when he revealed that actually his supervisor was forcing him to make me accept the money because he knows the fleet insurance is going to go up. He's gonna get his pay cut by way more than $300. Well, that's for bullying.
Yes, I think I'll invest in a Road Cam after this episode. Sending the car in this Thursday...
Thanks for all your contributions...still feeling the pain...

Re: Hit and Run

i wonder under what case then the freaking SPF will do something, pcs of shit, next time got chance to meet up Mr teo must ask him personally. pui

Re: Hit and Run

Errr.... Sorry bro, but I think you should have gone onto the right-most lane. Don't think the taxi was in the wrong...

Re: Hit and Run

If 3 lanes turning left onto 6 lanes, shouldn't it be like this:

.... Lane 1 ....|..... Lane 2 ....................|.... Lane 3 ....
left | straight | straight | straight + right | right | right

So taxi from lane 2 going to "straight + right" seems correct leh....
