I hope you get raped by a dog

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

Frankly, dennistan07, your post is highly offensive, particularly your suggestion that recipients of these SMSes should be "happy and blessed" to be targeted to receive such SMSes. These SMSes are spam, nothing more, nothing less. they're no different from emails from "Cindy" asking you to buy cheap viagra online.

I fail to see how the original post was discriminatory. the criticisms were valid, even if the tone was a little strong. and any property agent who doesn't send these SMSes shouldn't have anything to worry about - the criticisms were not directed at them. As for those who do, it's about time they were told off for their selfish actions.

whether or not these errant property agents drive BMWs or are part of the 'BMW community' is irrelevant. that doesn't excuse what they're doing. it might take me 5 seconds to delete them, but receiving unsolicited and unwelcome SMSes distracts me from my work or my personal time with friends and family.

In foreign jurisdictions like the US, email spammers are being prosecuted for what they're doing and jailed or fined their *ss off. I can only hope the same will happen to all SMS spammers in Singapore in the future.

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

oh, and lest I be accused of 'not showing respect' - respect has to be earned. and I don't think anyone who's sent me a spam SMS has shown me the slightest respect.

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

Robbierd took the words right out of my mouth!

I will say the same thing even if you drive a lambo

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

Ok, the words may be a little strong but we have the right to our privacy and such sms-advertising? Is this going too far? To me, such spam ads are no better than emails and smses saying you won a million bucks in some non-existent contest. They are spam, pure and simple. Is the property agent job a spam profession? You tell us.

If housing agents want respect in their work (and I have some very good friends in that industry), practise professionally and market your products properly. Why stoop to sucn spam advertising and irritates the hell out of everybody? I made a vow never to buy anything from such advertisment.

wow, get raped by a dog huh??
does it irritates you so much till you have to use such strong words?
All it takes is less than 5 seconds to read and delete an SMS and because of this you are cursing the poor agent to get raped by a dog??
Just like you, agents are also human being making a decent living and we all have parents, how would you or yr parents feel if someone curse you to get raped by a dog??
in case you are too ignorant to know, there are thousands of agents who owns a beemer reading your discriminating post.

if today you received an sms selling you something you are interested in would you still react so strongly?
in todays society, advertising is part and parcel of our daily life, its everywhere, from sms / phone calls, mailers in yr mailbox / cars to emails, even the neon signs that is popping up everywhere is an eye sore. if small little things like this irritates you so much how are we all going to live in harmony?
you should be happy and blessed that you are one of those who are targeted to receive sms on property launch, at least you still owns an asset in singapore and people still wants to sell you something.
Have you ever imagine what will happen if one day you really stop receiving sms, or phone calls from anyone??
you have become undesirable, you owns nothing to your name, no house, no credits cards, no cars, you don't pay income tax because you have no more earning power,,when that day come, you will have absolute peace, and you don't need to curse anyone being raped by a dog, because you have became worst than a dog...

no offence bro, just a reminder to treat each and other with respect regardless of their race, religion or occupation so that we can all live in harmony,

oh by the way, i'm a housing agent myself, if one day you decided to buy or sell, i'll still be happy to do business with you as long as no dogs rape me..cheers bro..

PM me if you find my post offending, i'm always ready to offer you a handshake and apology..
The only two questions I have is - (1) where did these agents get my number - lawful or unlawful? And (2) did I ask for this massive spams of SMS at my cost?

It was quite clear the threadstarter was NOT directing at one particular professional segment per se. It was directed at those who spammed strangers' HP numbers with closing a sale in mind. Clearly, not all property agents adopt this methodology.

Their car ownership is not a factor, so whether they own BMW or Audi and whether they are reading this, it should not matter. In fact, if they are guilty of this, they should be receptive.

If today some SMS told me I inherited $10m from some distant uncle I will be sceptical, and I am sure I will not be happy to be a recipient of this kind of SMS. By nature, most, if not all, of us are sceptical in nature. A deal that sounds too good to be true, often is. So, it still goes back to the basic principle - did I request to be included in the sender's SMS list?

The internet provides such a huge information base for diligent buyers/investors to do their research on almost everything. Advertising is no longer about awareness, but embedded is a combination of goodwill and professionalism. A personal touch from someone who has shown his or her face is a plus, but the same cannot be said from a stranger. There is no such feelings of "happiness" and "blessings" when some strangers SMSed me about some deals. Never will that be.

And yes, junk mails are irritating. Singpost has addressed this somewhat by centralising them and charging the advertisers to dump them in our postboxes too.

If one day I stopped receiving SMS or phone call from my family and my close friends, I will be worried. But if I stop receiving SMS or phone calls from strangers trying to solicit some sales, should I be worried? Because I am poorer than a dog? Really?

Or because some database left out my name? And for that, I need to be worried?

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

I think the messages here by MW, pengful and the rest are fair and mild. Afterall what is mentioned are only figures of speech, not meant in the literal sense or with any real intents. I hope the industry can set a code of practice for their agents not to tout their service or make spam calls & SMSes. This is the only way to clean up the industry and do justice to the good ones. Like many here, I will never give any business to the spammers and their felons. They have really gone far overboard by making over a thousand calls to a single household. It is these felons and their perpetrators that the "curses" are directed at.

I can answer this question with confidence. The housing agents got it from property launch showroom or database company which I mentioned in my earlier thread. Why am I so sure the agents got it from the showroom? Well I have proof. Few years back, I went for a property launch and was requested to write down my name & mobile number. I wrote down my 3days old mobile number which I haven't given to anyone yet, not even my wife. It was a bidded number and confirm not recycled one. 3days later, I started to receive those "happy and blessed" messages like what dennistan07 has mentioned. And from receiving from one number, it became a few, and eventually it become many numbers from all diff real estate companies. I reckon my number was trade among agents/companies. Dennistan07, certainly I do not feel happy and blessed this way and who would this way. So guys, is this way of getting my number lawful/unlawful? You decide :)

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

One of the telemarketers told me she simply called the numbers in the phonebook and suggested I pay SingTel to have my number delisted. Did anyone try that? I am sceptical that it will make much difference since my number is already ciculating around. I'd rather terminate the fixed line for good once the contract expires.

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

I had my surname written wrongly in one of the forms filled up at one of the huge electrical store, and since then, I have received phone calls addressing me in that wrong surname. I confronted the store and the management denied selling my biodata to some other parties.

Lucky draws, memberships, VIP cards, even your credit card info can be sold....... Just ask some insurance agency doing cold calls......

Re: I hope you get raped by a dog

I received sms from one insurance agent also. I had lunch with him but never buy anything in the end.

Might be the staff of that store sold the list of contacts to the database company... easy $$$ :shakemyb:
