another misconception about multiple pots or braking cylinders. most think more pots means stop faster. NOT true.

few pots can mean those pots hv bigger surface areas. so go ahead n buy those 10 pot alcons...but only bcos alcons r swee...not bcos alcons hv 10 cylinders...

my front ceramic brakes hv 6 pots. the stock steel brakes hv 8.

With all due respect, have you experienced brake fade before?

I have, and it was not on the NSH, not even with aggressive street driving - driving it like I stole it.

when I first experienced brake fade, I nearly pissed in my pants. You won't forget it cos you won't want to do it again, ever...

Pls read Kenntona's post, and totoseow's, and tripleM's...

Was referring to driving hard, coupled with hot waether. I didn't say need. I said it would help with brake fade if one drives hard on NS highway, max rev, hard braking, etc.

Pls google on brake fade.

Hi Friends,

I'm driving a new BMW F10 for about 3 months but I realise that the brakes are not reactive enough.

I was thinking of changing to aftermarket brake pads.

Was told by a workshop boss that changing the pads only wouldn't make much of a difference. I would need to change the entire brake kit to get a significant improvement in the brakes reaction.

Can anyone advise me on this? Any recommended brake pads? I have heard good reviews on Mintex and EBC

The ws was bullshitting you, they trying to make more money by asking you change to bigger brake kit.
Changing to better aftermarket brake pads will definitely improve your braking.

Changing to big brake kit will improve braking by a big margin for sure but changing to better pads will improve significantly even thought it cannot match bbk on performance.

Currently i only have EBC in mind.
But there are others in the mkt.
Perhaps someone can advise what other brand of brake pads are there for our F10

I'm on EBC green/red stuff too, did mine at Doc's. More bite and stopping power and far less brake dust. A bit of squealing is natural cos they are ceramic brake pads but not noticeable inside the cabin.

IMHO, the best prices for EBC nowadays are at amazon with free shipping above USD125. Of course this will only work if you know how to change your pads. And they have the full range of EBC pads, green/red/yellow available.

Be sure to know some performace brake pad needs certain temp to work optimally so if you start your car early morning n need to jam brake, the stock one might do a better job.

If you just want drilled rotors with no change in calipers then just buy drilled replacements e.g Zimmermann from Eng Soon and just replace the stock rotors.
