Gruppe M is basically just a air filter which takes in cold air as it is placed in a way where yr car is moving, it takes in colder ambient flowing air.
this intercooler cools yr compressed air produced by your turbo, just like wat seetoh said.
bigger intercooler = cool air faster = cooler air = more power for engine
see diagram below....

For turbo engines, it is the exhaust gases that spools the turbocharger. As the exhaust gases spool the turbo, air is compressed into chambers. However, exhaust gases are very hot so the entire turbo heats up and so does the intake air that it compresses. Hot air expands and the density of molecules is lowered so not so effective combustion. To solve that, the air that is compressed needs to be forced through the intercooler to cool the air down thus also increasing the density of molecules. When this compressed and cooled high density air is ignited, combustion is better, thus more power. So the theory is that the efficiency of the intercooler in cooling the compressed air does affect the power of turbo cars.
Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong. Cheers!

SHAMELESS;291110 said:dun think CF material is any much better than plastic in terms of heat shield. the best would be those "metallic duct tape" used to wrap around extractors or exhaust pipings!!!!

RaptureM3;291114 said:the core looks quite thick. any effect on the spool up?
RaptureM3;291178 said:nono i mean the first pic of the intercooler.
understand intercooler core too big = pressure drop too big = lag
