ipod aux in e90

hi guys,

i'm thinking of getting an ipod nano to plug into the ipod aux on the e90..

can anyone tell me if the sound quality is ok, and whether the ipod comes with the cables to plug it into the aux?

at least it will be better than e FM thingy...don't waste $ on it...
the ipods do not come with the aux cable.

I have attached my ipod to my E90, and the sound quality is as good as the quality when you first "ripped" it. Recommend to adjust the sound settings on the car stereo to enhance the quality. Only thing is you have to change tracks on your ipod, instead from the steering wheel.

that's good news.. changing tracks on the ipod is ok since i usually select a playlist and let it run..

gee...so you still have to fork out about S$500 for e ipod thingy to be able to control from e steering wheel...display...

Larry, how have you set your iPod/stereo for the best sound?

Kenzo, if you're looking for a short cable, suggest you try the specialist cable store in Funan. I want to say it's called 'Just Cables' or something like that. It's a few doors down from the Apple Store. They may not have the short cable on display, but the woman had them behind the counter when I asked. She seemed surprised that I would prefer a 15-20cm cable for $6 when I could have a 1.8m cable. With the short cable, it's all nice and neat inside the arm rest.

For those interested, I went down to the Apple store to check on the audio cable to hook up my ipod to the car, and was quoted almost S$15 for the cable. Instead, found a similar one for a couple of dollars from Sim Lim. Works the same as well!

As for the settings, I personally find that having the bass at +6 is perfect for me (which is also the maximum setting) and the tweak the rest of the settings for my preferred "sound". Hope this helps.

Yup, +6 for the bass, and throwing in a couple of amps, component speakers, subwoofers and processors wouldn't really hurt either.

hi. i use the Monster iCarcharger with my nano.

benefits:
1. charges the nano at the same time
2. line output is from the dock connector at bottom of nano. hence need not fiddle with volume level control on the nano

minus:
1. cable is a bit too long. however all can be hidden in the armrest so no big concern.

i find that the quality is slightly better than if you connect directly from the ipod headphone jack

They have most stuff for ipod for cars. You may have to ship them in though since there isnt a local shop here carrying them.

Can't remember which shop exactly, was walking around the shops trying my luck and found one. Try the shops that are located "behind", usually prices are better there from my experience. And yes, it is connected to the bottom of my nano.

Think its the shop at the back lift lobby, the guy's name is Dickson, sells whole lot of cables/connectors/adapters etc...at reasonable prices too...
its on the 2nd level, in between Jia Ying(CCTV distributor) and the 'canteen'...right at the 'back' lift lobby...

The 35mm jack with 1.8m long cable costed me about $8 from Tanjong Pajar market there.
Works well! one end to iPod headphone jack and other end to AUX jack.

2. Soundtrack title cannot be display from the front panel....
