damn i'm excited..

this will be the first car i've ever bought on my own. my first car was a proton Waja which my dad bought for me. i hope i'll be much happier with a BMW. got myself a second hand 320ia. paid just over 90k for it, registered 31 Dec2003, 35,000km on the odometer. my friend was telling me its a good deal.. ? black on black leather, 18" AC rims (i believe they are type IV). some of u have probably seen it on sgcarmart. went to see the car in AML, very well maintained and interior is like new.

paid downpayment a few days ago, will be collecting the car tomoro. just finished its detailing, polish and wax + interior cleaning. dont think i'll be able to sleep tonight haha i've been spending the past few nights browsing through the threads on this forum and have learned a whole lot of new things. still some stuff i'm unsure of but i'm sure i'll get the hang of it soon.

looking forward to joining you guys for a nice drive sometime :)

Re: Just bought my first BMW..

thanks man useful info there! so you would recommend the coil booster? do i need to get LTA approval for this? cant seem to find the IVAC amp on bvo website..?

will PM wilman :)

at this point in time, have a few things on my mind. looking to change the side mirrors, change to angel eyes. maybe the rear cluster too. the matt black front grills look very tempting too.

trying to decide if i should change my headunit (but worried it will disrupt the overall cool yet understated black interior)

still on stock suspension at the moment. not sure if i wanna change just yet. had some time with my brother in laws 318ia and it was such a smooth and comfortable ride on the stock. would your kit harden the ride a lot?

Re: Just bought my first BMW..

angel eye, air filter, exhaust, smoke lights, LED, Black front grill, many many mob.

Enjoy your E46.

Re: Just bought my first BMW..

trying to find a website with AC schnitzer product / price lists. the main AC website doesnt tell me much..

Re: Just bought my first BMW..

Hi roasty, trust me, the coil booster is a must have...really got gains...can feel it.
th IVAC amp is even better..you can feel the pull. check with BVO , cos stocks fly off the shelf very fast for this hotcake. no issues with LTA..

m3 side mirrors get from ebay, CCFL angel eyes BVO carries them too..

Re: Just bought my first BMW..

Hi Roasty...congrats to your new ride. My advice to you would be to bring it in for 'servicing' at one of those workshops recommended in our forum. They will make sure that the stopping bits (suspension, brakes etc) are up to it. Some low mileage cars are maintained very often and some low mileage cars are not maintained very often. If you like the rims its fitted with, then a tyre change will noticeably lower the 'road noise'. Thats assuming those low mileage tyres are a few years old.
Good luck and enjoy.

Well, suspension comfort levels are a personal and subjective thing.

All lowered suspensions will sacrifice comfort (to various degrees) in exchange for better handling and improved looks (eliminate fender gap). There are some kits out there that optimise balance between handling with relatively 'comfortable' rides. Its a matter of getting used to as well. For me, once I changed out my stock suspension, I regretted not doing that earlier.....will never go back to stock both for handling and looks.

my 2 cts worth - take your time to look around!

Re: Just bought my first BMW..

aah just got my car today.. big grin on my face now :)

except still no road tax! dealer handing it to me tomoro afternoon. well no worries i wont be driving it around as i'm on a 36hour shift at work tomoro. pretty much worst case scenario eh? new car but cant drive it even if i had road tax!

some minor scratches still even after the dealer took it for wax/polish. thinking of sending it for a thorough clean up / detailing / proper polish and wax this weekend. i'm sure the dealer just sent it for a simple wash.

should i send it to a workshop for a full checkup as well? change of oil / alignment etc?

one question tho, when i set the car in reverse, my left side view mirror automatically turns downwards. as i dont have the manual with me now (getting it tomoro), can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening? it turns downwards so much i can only see the road and bottom of my car!
