Why not just simply follow what the manufacturer (BMW) recommends as per the manual... for the first 2000kms, limit max engine speed to 4500rpms and speed to 160km/h or lower. After 2000kms slowly increase engine and road speed.
Since they built and tested the thing they should know a thing or two about recommended run-in program right?

Gd Morning All..herewith my updates but pls take it with a pinch of salt. almost tears when part with my 4yrs old crossroad...anyway, i must also tell you this is my first BM/ conti car, hence that might explain my level of expectation;
1. I must say, I'm blessed with a good SE till date. All my previous ride SE sucks esp after the signature on the line. Let me know if any of you needs one.
2. Car booked on last Sunday, collected yesterday afternoon. WOW, that is FOUR DAYS...NOT MONTHS. Of course is due to certain factors...
3. Exterior paint work, thoroughly checked. Good.
4. Interior equipment & conditions, thoroughly checked. Good.
Now the ride...
1. Road noise is slightly higher as compared to the test-drive car, not sure if it's due to new tires or my 20". But this is easily compensated by the audio. Pickup is fast, lag is minimal (if you off the Auto Start/Stop or in Sports mode). The car is stable at high speed/ corner...oops, my last car CG is HIGH :whatthe:
2. Auto Start/Stop function. After few hours of driving, I can fully understand why some F30 driver is anal abt this. When it resumes from the shut down, the shuttering/ vibrating effects is not something you would expect from such car. At times I'm wondering if the engine is already off such that i need to crank start.
3. Steering, good feedback but abit light at high speed. Oh yahh..it's the Alcantara..
4. Suspension, rather hard. Come'on..it's a sport ride..
5. Rim...:twisted::twisted: 20" very big, nice & eye-catching but i guess fc gonna suffer
6. Brakes, soft but SE told me need to brake-in before the bite comes...
7. Audio, lousy although SE claims all BM basic setup is by Harmon Kardon. I miss my 2-way component + base. Worse to know, there's no upgrade opts. Needless to say, any 3rd party retrofitting voids warranty.
8. iDrive, friendly UI, fun to play with many customized settings just like OS system but i reckon minimal use during driving.
9. Navigation..I think BMW still have some work to do...tedious to use.
10. Phone pairing, surprising I have no problem with my HTC HD Desire (Android). iPhone is not an issue.
11. Sport seat is good. I love "hug" from the back.
12. General equipment placement is good, everthing within reach.
13. Very interesting security system, eg locking/ unlocking gasture, boot release, etc.
14. BIG boot..not boobs :twisted:
15. FIERCE LOOK especially the AE.
16. lastly...my sons' smiley face when me & wife when to fetch them after collecting the car, saying "papa..i love your red color bmw"...
ok... that just for the moment..also my SE told me during run-in, keep to less than 140km/h and/or 4500rpm.
lastly..just some pics to share with your in the meantime before i go for the first GTG...also give me a friendly honk if we meet on the road ok

i am surprised you said the boot is big i find it small as compared to e ride aka A4
like the ride and thin tyre profile ... nice !!
your suspension is hard by default or you adjust to sport mode ? no complain from back seat passenger about the ride being too bumpy ?

Wow if u find the power good on 20" with RFT wait till u downsize the rims , you'll think your cars a rocket : ) I very tempted to change to 20" also but scared of the road noise, added weight and harder ride lor. Do give us feedback when u get more familiar with the car

Up to u guys to follow, the proper run in is actually for brakes, suspension etc thats pretty new, they need to sit in properly and to bed in as well.
Engine wise not so, German rides r pre run in for the engine and gearbox. Of cos they state down the good to haves for the laymen, follow them by all means if they assure u

Not true. M performance carbon mirror covers , M performance carbon gear shift cover is not done up yet. M performance door sills is also missing. All these are available in the market , you just have to add them in.
