Wah lao. Its been 3 years since I had one. These days the summon doesnt even carry a statement somewhere that says something like 'should you disagree, you could raise this with our investigator at TP UBI HQ.

Hia-Dees, what are my chances of waiver or reduced fine? IMF-WB period leh, got chance or not.

And where was the 60km/h signboard? I ve lived here for the last century and didnt knew the limits was 60km/h. WTF.....were they using 'speed-gun' and hiding behind the bushes?

Don't think a waiver letter's gonna work in your case man!! If it's slightly over the limit, maybe still got chance, but your case it's 30-40kmh!! You're lucky you didn't exceed 40kmh else your license will be revoked... Happened to a friend of mine

One thing I learned from the TP when I was caught racing in Orchard 5 years ago.

TP: "You think you hero issit, drive so fast in Orchard! You are a road hazard!"
Me: "No lah sir, step little bit gas only niah... Don't angry lah, I try not to speed again"
TP: "WHAT TRY! You will stop speeding and travel within the road limits!!"
Me: "Okok paiseh paiseh but Orchard also no sign say what limit mah how I know?"
TP: "You want me to send you back for Basic Theory again anot? Don't you know no sign means 50km/h??"
Me: "Har really ah?!? Okok paiseh I drive in 2nd gear all the way when I am in Orchard."
TP: "You better be carfeul if not the next time I will book you for reckless driving and send you to Court."

I lost my license in 1994. Kena chase by 3 tp bike -special squad down orchard road....... speeding and reckless driving!!!! 3 years suspension. Ooops.

Beng, you after 3yrs, me since 1991, 1st time kanna, I wrote 2 appeal letters also no use , going court 11-Oct !! 104km/hr on a 60km/hr road... 12 point, fine to be advise on tat judgement day!

You can try to appeal on your own or through your MP like what Liverpudlian say......unless u sway sway stay in opposition ward lah....heee

Full waiver its almost impossible unless you really have some SOLID story to tell and prove. But there is a good chance you could have the demerit point or fine reduce. Important thing is must emphasise on your GOOD RECORD!!!

And please dont write some stupid excuse like, BANG SAI, BANG JIO, etc..... all this sure kanna throw in dustbin.

I was caught once 160+kph on AYE and went down to beg and beg and well long story.. in the end still goes to court with a reduced charge and ended up $800 fine plus 18 points. I consider myself lucky coz speed limit there was only 70 kph. Now I bery good driver liao.

Ah Beng, no harm writing in to say that it was your mistake and you regretted it and ask for leniency. You may not escape totally, but a reduced charge may be a possibility. We all do get carried away sometime in an empty road ... I do think they can understand.

agree with eldwin that difficult to waive but may have chance to reduce pt or fine. With solid story, coupled with your good track record, and effort and persistence to fight the case (to show that you did not intentional speed and you "genuinely" have to go faster lah), then maybe got chance.

The Sembawang stretch is one of TP's famous area, almost every Fri and Sat nite also got TP, either hiding or road block. Wise to slow down driving there...

kam sia to all the hia-dees for yr kind advices. about 10 years ago, I kena one beat-traffic-summon and klena $200 plus 12 demerit points. Went to the old TP at Maxwell and ask for leniency. Fine reduced to $150 and 8 points. So should I use the same old story?
