That's bad and sounds like an expensive repair coming up.

Claiming own damage or self repair?

Either just tow to R2D or 2277 tmr. If you need to pre-qualify, just go down and talk to them both first in person to see which one you going use.

Get a quotation from both workshop to compare...

Re: Knocked into a curb today

Re: Knocked into a curb today

Thanks for highlighting that WS ........ and sorry to hear it happened to you.

Helicopter sound - isn't that is more of rear diff / axle kind of issue - how come looking at the engine ? Did he try to pull the codes ? Is your engine n54 or n55 ?

Double check the calibration of the injectors and the boost levels for the power loss. Pull the codes out along the way - will help with the power loss.

Anyway GUYS !!! today i took my pick and went to 2277. I gotta say Calvin really live up to his reputation. Service over there is good and prompt.

But now I have another problem with my car is that ; while accelerating linearly, I experienced RPM jump and vibrates sometimes while accelerating between 40-80km/hr. Anyone here has encounter this problem before?

Re: Knocked into a curb today

No vibration during gear change, inconsistent frequency of vibration whilst accelerating linearly. Sry bro i dont know what is reset of adaptations, but i think the previous technician told me they did a software reset for me. Don't know what it is as well :\

Re: Knocked into a curb today

If they reset software then the engine, transmission, idle etc would hunt for a while as it re-adapts ...... Should be fine after a while.

Sometimes would have vibrations ......

Reset mine once in a while or after a mod at the car park then I would bring it around the area and just give it a whack......

Hi dear Beemer owners.
I have knocked into a curb today and my car was towed to a shop at Sin Ming 4th floor, bengwah(if you know him) and he told me that my front axle support, right arm and something in the steering rack was damaged. But he couldn't quote me till monday. Anyone has been through this situation before?

:(

bryien,

Sad to hear your unpleasent experience with benghwa.

I went to his ws a few times already. So far have no issue with him. Maybe mine is all minor works like power window motor replacement, changed aftermarket headlight, changed valtronic motor and other small issue.

Re: Knocked into a curb today

just sharing:

some local ws who 'offers" complete engine overhaul "actually" sub-con the work to other ws... up north...

... always drop by ws to check your engine during overhaul...

I will say if you are the type that feel more peace at mind to change all damaged parts, 2277 may be a good choice since their guys work fast and price wise quite reasonable for local workshop.

If you only want to change what absolutely needs to be done, go R2D as he is definitely the expert.

Very funny way to pit both workshops side by side, though I cannot be sure what was the intention.

I think when it comes to peace of mind, integrity and knowledge, it should be arranged R2D on the top.

I dun care which workshop the ji ho more powerful, as long as it can stand up to scrutiny.

No need to be so suspicious la, I get bro kenntona's point. Some workshop err on the side of caution, would rather replace whole assembly than just a part since some other part of assembly may fail in future and you would then need to incur fresh labor costs esp when disassembly is complex - of course this can be abused to carrot you for unnecessary work. Others and sounds like R2D is in that category try to help save you money by going for just essential. I am ok with both approaches provided the client is kept informed about the pros and cons and is in the decision loop.

Why would a sub-con be unscrupulous ?

not the sub-con but the local ws. e.g. local ws quote sgdxxxx.xx to the customer & the "up north" sub-con does it for the local ws at half the price... just an example.

Re: Knocked into a curb today

That's why might as well go up north yourself.

Almost everything that can be subcontracted out in Singapore will be subcontracted out.
