Not so sure govt will step in. Afterall they can always say that we have a world class public transport system which is both affordable and serves the majority's needs well enough. Housing is probably where the govt is more likely to step in since rising prices has impact on public housing prices. Furthermore, the govt may say that less cars on the road keeps traffic smooth flowing AND higher COEs are good for govt coffers :shhhh:

Well this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you look at the bigger picture, we are in for a serious inflation. Press is good at diverting attention but you gotta get all that cloud out and the fact remains that real wages has not increased with dis-proportionate increases in standards of living, etc.

I am just saying the COE topic is more than just that itself. It has alot more concerning consequences coupled with other factors...

Wow, went down to PML yesterday and found that the prices were revised on christmas eve. the cheapest car of the fleet is going to breach $200k

How much did they increase the price by? 5 K 10 K 15K??

I remember buying my 320 for 125k 5 years ago with Coe at 15 k .
Price increase by 75 k while Coe increase by 60k....( not withstanding the stronger eur and higher OMv)
wow. Good margins for Pml even with increase in Coe...

bottom line is profit must be equal or more cannot be less hor.

I remember buying my 320 for 125k 5 years ago with Coe at 15 k .

320i was selling at $107k last year with COE at $7k and OMV at $35k. The price has almost doubled.

PML factored in the higher COE already I guess. And people will still buy. PML with the margin in pocket will bid higher for COEs. Cycle goes on and on till COE reach $100k. Happy New Year to all and Huat ah!

Actually the 5 series prices hasnt moved much till this round.
They already had a lot of buffer in the first place.
