Chinese saying, "the street has chilled dead bodies of people dying from hunger/chill, while the restaurants/whorehouse has rotten meat and stale liquors from excess...."

Re: Man charged with stealing tins of baby milk powder

note to self....next time if there is a thief / stealing case, should claim kleptomaniac & depression.... then get away with fine.

Re: Man charged with stealing tins of baby milk powder

Feeling emo - should the $3000 dinner table contribute to a $300 milk powder cause instead?

why aim the dinner folks?
there are tons of ppl spending $$ here in the forum...1 branded watch probably can pay for many dinners or a whole year of guni powder.

Re: Man charged with stealing tins of baby milk powder

Steven - it is just a banter. No need to take it so seriously. No one is aiming at anyone.

Re: Man charged with stealing tins of baby milk powder

This is one of the dark sides we see in the society. If someone approach you saying he/she need $$$ to buy milk powder, will you help or just walk away? Many people choose to walk away. Can't blame them as many are skeptical.

Our social welfare system is just not robust enough which many people in need would be left out of the door. This is something the government should look into as the economy is softening in the next few months.

kenn should stop hanging at KPO on fridays and spend his $$ on the $300 worth of milk powder case....

That's why our mama always tell us must study hard when young.
Singapore practices meritocracy and we also do not want to end up like some Ang Moh countries social welfare system that cannot sustain.

Bottom line is, any bro interested in my F10 so I sell already can have some money and my kids can depend on father mother social welfare!

Re: Man charged with stealing tins of baby milk powder

If his motivation for theft is indeed for his hungry baby and he had ran out of ideas to raise money, I hope our 'fair' judicial committee will give him a lenient sentence.

Say if this thief is a PRC 'FT' who stole to feed his baby, what would the reaction here be? Interesting to know.....

Sorry i'm not referring to people who don't study hard and wait for money to fall from the sky. We do have some form of welfare system in place. However, not many people are aware of it. Even with the system, some needy people just need more resources.
