Ministerial pay review committee submits report to PM Lee

Re: Ministerial pay review committee submits report to PM Lee

They should form a committee to claim back money from Malboro Tan and WKS who is laughing away while sunbathing in some nude beach in Maldives....

it is quite amazing to see BMW owners not happy with how much our Government is being paid.

Why BMW owners? Is there an assumption that the lower income group (another inherent but logical assumption that BMW ownership is not in sync with lower income group) are more unhappy perhaps due to the wider income gap?

I think the issues are (1) the perceived true political passion and (2) the perceived value add of these politicians.

"If you look at the generation of MM, it was a very unique time in Singapore which surfaced great leaders. The demands of society will naturally surface great leaders. Fortunately, not only were they great, they devoted their life to public service, although along the way Singapore has prospered. I can recall many of our ministers could have joined private sector and made a lot of money but they didn’t, I think we can’t wait a for similar situation to come to raise great leaders for Singapore."

In the old days, the likes of Richard Hu and Ong Teng Cheong, there were passions for the people and less autocratic political behaviour. They were fighting hard post independence for the nation. Was a million-dollar-package a concern back then? Not really. But now, with Kate Spade and Ferrari in our day to day conversations, you cannot help but wonder where is the actual focus?

Committee releases Report | Committee to Review Ministerial Salaries

minister's salary to start at $935K ... i feel for minister ... :D

The new salaries are based on our recommendation to benchmark the MR4 Minister’s salary to the median income of the top 1,000 earners who are Singapore citizens and with a 40% discount to signify the ethos and sacrifice that comes with political service

Eg: $1,700,000

$1,700,000/ 12months/ 4weeks/ 7days/ 24hour/ 60mins = $3.513/ min.

it is still worse off than Nicolas Anelka's €5,8m salary.

i will get my son to be a footballer!

Wonder how they recover the difference. Installment plan? Anyway let's give credit where it's due, the report seems to play to the ground.
