Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

There's also bits on this topic at http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/bmw-5-series-owners/70731-munich-change-my-number-plate-9.html where I posted initially.

Hmmm seems like MA either needs more time to come up with a public answer or is just hoping this thread will die out.

Can somebody move this to a more public thread and not 5 series specific. I'm not quite active on this forum but would like this issue to get more publicity. Thanks.

Dear ieweey,

We do not need more time, but the query reply is only meant for the individual PI BMW owner only. And as I been saying consistently, if there is any BMW owner who have any queries regarding their BMW warranties are more than welcome to email me at [email protected] . Please do state the following:
1) Owner's Full Name
2) Vehicle Number
3) Owner's Contact Information

Thank you for choosing BMW as your preferred marque.

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

I am suddenly curious about this as well

hendra, for a person who is very active in this forum and consistently posting in many threads n of cos offering good services, I can't help but feel surprised why you suddenly become secretive and need PI owners to PM you on this.

there may be management policies which prevent you from saying out in public why adoption fees must be paid and of coz this is not your fault. But like I said, you cannot on one hand welcome us with open arms and on the other hand say these open arms are subject to T&Cs

Dear MW,

As a member of the legal profession I am sure you can appreciate the need to comply to a signed agreement and the confidentiality that comes with such agreements. I have always tried my utmost to serve the BMW owners needs and I would like to continue serving their needs long into the foreseeable future. And as I said if the BMW owner have any queries, I will address them individually in private due to the need for confidentiality. Thank you.

In layman's term.... we call it "It's a business decision,"

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

Not sure if this is relevant but I have a good friend who owns a gs1200 and he rode the bike to Thailand.. While he was there a major part unfortunately broke and be had not choice but to approach the local AD for help.

To his pleasant surprise.... The local AD not only got the replacement done but also informed my friend that the part is free because his bike is under warranty... The local AD told my friend... Don't worry... Tour anywhere with your bike... As long as under warranty and the place has AD it will be covered.. While he waited for the repair... He got a 7 series from the AD bringing him for half day city tour before dropping him back at the hotel..

Maybe PML would this? And throw in a Chiobu driver.....

Business strategy do change.

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

My question is simple... If it's an international warranty and it has to be uphold around the world.. Why isn't it done here... Not a question of biz strategy but a question of short changing the owners here?

I heard if u make enough noise to BMW Asia, u can still probably be able to get local warranty for it... provided car is imported under your name. With most PIs, u won't be able to do this. Unless u import it yourself.

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

But why must the consumer even make noise in the first place? And wouldn't the warranty follow the cars and not the owners? Further more this is a premiere marque brand...

can always claim warranty in Malaysia or Thailand... got 7ser bring u around city tour... over here u need to beg for a courtesy car, no guarantee u can get cos need 1mth advance booking... as if I know my ride will break down 1mth later..

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

Sad isn't it... To imagine that our neighbours get better service than us.. And now think abt this... If you place the ratio of BMW having major breakdowns in the first few years against the premium you are paying over a PI car is the amount worthwhile?

Btw, I don't own a PI company(which I wish I did) and I am not a salesman for them.. :)

What's there to be sad? These are commercial arrangements, and for a small country like us, dun expect healthy competition.

May not be all bad to head toward 8 million population

Re: Munich Automobiles Welcomes You

When you buy a non-AD car, it is a commercial contractual agreement between you and that "seller." If he offers you international warranty, it is also a contractual agreement between he (seller) and you (buyer).

At no point of the transaction is PML or MA involved. So if there is a breach, your recourse is with the seller, not PML or MA.

When PML messed up my car, I walked into BMW Asia. They told me they have no business relationship with me. Go back to PML.

Eventually, my lawyer told me the same thing. BMW Asia has no contractual obligation to me.
