BMW does not have a problem. they are not representative of the kind of service quality provided by their ADs here. just read the other forums in the US and Europe. you'll know what i mean...
sure there will be bad eggs amongst the lot who give the rest a bad rep, but this is unique rather than the norm, unlike here.
here, they are complacent, cos they do not need to fight for market share, and complacency leads to 'bo chup' attitude.
and dude, we have all given you advice. you may be hearing, but not necessarily listening...
over and out.

I doubt they would reveal due to competitivness ...
For us end users is to get a second opinion and ammo to shoot BMW / PML / Munich ....
There are many camps here as well as site sponsors ... so too much to listen where ...
also different cars / drivers different needs ....
SUPAN, if engine has been rebuilt with new piston rings it will be tight like virgin. Last time when I changed my E90 pre-facelift with over 90,000 kms to a brand new E90 LCI, I got the same complaint. The car never felt like the old one and struggled to produce power. It keeps getting caught in the wrong rev range. FC also sucks. What is worse is that the LCI got the GM gearbox which felt like crap compared to the old ZF although the ZF was jerky it shifted very well. In the end after 20,000 kms I got so fed up I sold the car for a F10 523i.
You need to let the car run in like a new engine. It takes quite a while before it becomes loose and rev freely.
My F10 523i after 46,000 kms finally feel that it is more rev happy. It was quite "tight" when I first bought it at around 30,000 kms. Some say it takes about 50,000kms to free up.

When i got the car from a dealer at 11,000km, it was great ....
Charge pipe burst and replaced ... still doing very good ...
Low rpm car will die, the revs gear change still very good .... UNTIL the ECU reset / upgrade software....
The whole car seems unstock (when it is stock on Engine, except drop in air filter) ...
I met a friend with a same car last night and his ride was fully stock and that is something i lost after the ECU / upgrade software or increased rpm.The rev, the torque, the sound ... all gone ...
However my friend tested my ride and like the feeling on my ride ... (hehe)
Something is not done right to the software which i would try to get to the bottom of that.
Thanks for sharing yours.
Many seniors have advised to try to get a third opinion which i think i should.
Have you removed all your mods and ask MA to reset the ECU again? A full ECU reset does cause the car to adapt to new values. And if the ECU has adapted to the values with a knock sensor removed then it may have learnt a really retarded ignition timing.
Anybody with a normal BMW software and cable can do that, but there is a risk that it may fuck up the car. So best left to an experienced workshop to do.
I have some basic OBD cable and software that can chart the AFR, intake pressure, fuel trim, etc. Those are also good indicators of performance.
AFAIK even the experienced workshops don't do this for you. All this kind of troubleshooting I had to do myself, hence why I ended up buying all these funny cables and software. I even keep a old style 15" screen laptop with Win XP in my car for this. The new laptops with 16:9 widescreen cannot see those software properly.
