I uses 5w30 for the 2k oil change and I feel alot of lag and than I change to 5w40, its feels much better but still not as good as first get car, still got lag.. Than someone told me when first bought car the factory will poor in special kind of engine oil.. Don't know how true.. But yes can feel the lag and make me sian.. 535 no tak tak sound but got lag in respond very sian... Dont feel the real power in it..

Why would MA swap my almond cream cum for birds nest cum during a routine oil change? Bro S2k, now you got me worried - gotta go dig for receipt from MA. But, knowing how I am, I'd most likely thrown the receipt away a long time ago

Re: N55 turbo lag - any bros experienced it?

all turbo cars will have lag one... prease. especially in our hot tropical climate.

want instant results, have to zhng bigger intercooler...

else, drop 1 - 2 gears for that instant reaction since it takes a minute few seconds to spool the turbo up.

drove the M6 and its fast, but again have to drop 1 - 2 gears for that 'hang on...holey guacamoley....shitz my pants' feeling

Re: N55 turbo lag - any bros experienced it?

bigger intercooler also will have lag one conspermed unless late in the night and raining :lol2:

Wouldn't flick the gear pedal to D/S help? My butt feel the reaction is better than just hitting the accelerator...

maybe driving manual in the past help with this reaction.

Not true lah. Depends on turbo setup and other variables. Try telling the GTR/911 Turbo owners that their cars have lag. Even the N54 owners did not complain about the lag. Torque comes in handy from 1500 RPM onwards. All depend on rotational inertia and aspect ratio of turbo.

Check the stock dyno map of the N55 and see where the lag, if any, comes from. Twin scroll single turbos should not experience as much lag as a single scroll single turbo.

Solutions - plenty. Tune, exhaust, adjust AFR ratio, ignition timing.......

+1. The little 1M (N54) also got no lag :D

Re: N55 turbo lag - any bros experienced it?

"..... We can finally and directly compare an early N54, late N54, high-output N54, and an N55. The N55 exhibits less turbo lag in normal street driving, and even though its peak output was near the bottom of the group of engines we've tested, it's still well within its rated peak horsepower output -- and well above its rated peak torque output."

For those who "suffer" from a lag, go for a dyno and compare the TQ curves......

Re: N55 turbo lag - any bros experienced it?

sorry, OT a bit. F10 535 is simi turbo har? twin scroll single turbo? or twin turbos? or wat??

I only know if want fast fast, must change to sport mode, then car cannot wait to go. if in normal mode, when want to jalan fast, my car will take 1-2 seconds to think about it first before agreeing with me. :p

Re: N55 turbo lag - any bros experienced it?

Its very easy to fool with a driver's mind in modern cars equipped with electronically controlled throttle. The e-throttle map can easily be tweaked to lead the driver into thinking that he is driving a more powerful and responsive car (like some tuners did) or dulled to enhance fuel economy and smoothened the throttle response in stop-start situations.

Many cars these days have very conservatively programmed nanny systems to ensure that aggressive drivers do not damage the drivetrain or normal commuters do not get themselves into uncontrollable situations. Drivers who desire better response should not be using economy / comfort modes.

While its likely that the electronic throttle maps could have contributed to the lag perceived in N55, the picture below shows that N54 have a broader powerband and better boost response than N55.
