Need help!!!!

Hi Guys,
I have recently bought an e90 end 05 model which I collected 2 weeks ago. Problems are starting to arise and I’m starting to panic as well.
Firstly, when I purchased the car, the sales guy pitched the most beautiful picture that anyone could imagine. Promised me many things such as sending the car for servicing and checks.

As of now, there are 3 problems that I’m facing.

1. Few days after collecting my car, I noticed my aircon vents having some smoke/vapour coming out once in a while. I don’t know if it’s too cold or what but I usually set my aircon temp at 22-23.5C.
2. After a week, my driver door suddenly was unable to be unlocked by the remote. I have to manually use my key to unlock it/wind down window and open from the inside.
3. Today when I just parked my car at work, when I switched off, the check oil pressure light popped up.

I'm really frustrated that all this is happening so fast and is the dealer trying to pull a fast one. Any lawyers here or peeps familiar with the lemon law able to assist me on what I can do? Don’t understand why in 2 weeks can all these happen.:verysad:

Re: Need help!!!!

don't the car dealer have at least a 1 month warranty for your ride?
if have, time to call them

i believe so..i called up the guy. he told me to monitor the problem for a day and then bring to his workshop. but its basically stupid. how can you have low oil pressure when he claims he have done servicing.

Re: Need help!!!!

Ask for evidence. BTW, which dealer?

Lemon Law is your friend, not BMW-SG. We only worry about Durian Trees Everywhere!

Re: Need help!!!!

Oil pressure low - either oil pump issue (serious) or oil pressure switch ($20 part and a 15 minute job).

If its really the oil pump then the engine temp would be high.

One other possibility is that they used the wrong engine oil (weight). Along the way check for oil leaks.

Re: Need help!!!!

Bought it from a dealer at commonwealth. Don't think it's nice to post the dealer name here.

Re: Need help!!!!

Did you bring the car to one of the specialised workshops to do a QC check? There are a couple of them here as site sponsors and anyway, that's a recommended rule-of-thumb action item upon considering purchase/immediate purchase of a 2nd hand, regardless of how reputable the dealer may be.

I think your next best step before sending your car to his workshop would be to do some due diligence about the workshop he is suggesting. Not saying that he is a crook but seems like your promises weren't fulfilled and if I were you I would be even more careful in round 2 ;)

I haven't bring it to any workshop yet as I'm caught up with work. Am also new here and I hope some sifus can help me out with some workshops that I can go to.

Also one more thing, if he ask me to go to some workshop that I don't feel comfortable, can I propose to go another workshop that is from one of the site sponsors?

Of course you can, unless it is FOC - under warranty. Then even if Ah Kow Auto at Lorong 18 you also must go.

Actually I believe it's FOC as he said he will settle for me. And yes, it's my first time purchasing a 2nd hand car. Sorry sorry if I sound sua ku..

You need to be a bit more forceful and insistent. If you appear unsure and hesitate over the options you most prefer (even if you're not entitled to choose), they will eat you whole.

Re: Need help!!!!

last time I bought my E36 way back in 1999, it was from Ubi Megamart, the warranty workshop was at one of those God forsaken industrial areas near Kranji Reservoir and called Chin Swee Battery Pte Ltd

Re: Need help!!!!

Click on the site sponsors link at the top of the web page - they know their stuff. E.g. Boss and BVO.

Pretend that this is the pre purchase checks - get a view from them then goto your dealer's WS to fix. Who knows what other problems exist ....

Re: Need help!!!!

Honestly, i will not buy BMW that old unless it is 1 owner & direct sales from 1 owner. Knowing a lot of ppl are stinging on maintenance, i will not take that risk.

Juz go to any workshop you are comfortable with. That's what i did when i bought my E39.
