Need help!!!!

Re: Need help!!!!

Hi Guys, didnt have time to post yesterday, went down to the dealers workshop which was technic automotive. its the same floor as BOSS and they told me not to worry. i looked around, they handled basically high end cars so i was slightly relieved. there were about 4 bimmers there as well. when the boss looked at my car, he diagnosed with the outcomes. Called car dealer to confirm to fix repairs. was told to go ahead.

outcomes as follows:
1. Door actuator failed. replaced part.
2. Aircon having vapour/smoke was due to insufficient gas, so he did a top up for me.
3. Engine oil pressure light was due to low engine oil and the type of oil the previous owner used was too fine.

He basically did servicing for me and the bill was about $570. Called up the car dealer to arrange payment. Then tell me he will only bear the cost of the door repair + labour fee. so i paid about $190 for the engine oil,oil filter and aircon gas. it was quite a good job and did it in about 3 1/2 hours. i told him that some other workshops here are site sponsor and asked him as well as one of the bros here suggested and he said he didnt mind as well, so any moderators here could assist in contacting him.

And thanks again guys for the constructive comments. Appreciate the help.

Re: Need help!!!!

bro, they tell u aircon insufficent gas,did they check if there is any leakage from the evaporator coil or hoses or compressor.better ask for other opinion to do thorough check for other problems

Re: Need help!!!!

Did they QC your whole car or only diagnose the problems that you told them about?

Re: Need help!!!!

I bought a used car years ago in kallang stadium and the dealer highlighted the sport rim, amplifier, etc.
Two years later I went back to try sell back to him, he said rim and amp no use to him.Suggest I keep it. Very low offer from him.
Nabei I said he heartless, he said if not heartless can't be successful used car dealers
Ah Quek hope you are reading my post.

Re: Need help!!!!

Glad you got most of the problems fixed. always frustrating to deal with such hiccups especially when you are filled with excitment over the new purchase.

i suppose its expectations and buying a more "affordable" wallet friendly car would have associated baggage and just need to be aware of such repairs/replacements.

I had my fair share of problems initially 1) battery died 2) steering column lock failure (replaced a new computer from PML). when buying older cars just need to factor in extras for a major "make-over" at a more specialised workshop. Subsequent repairs and servicing will just have to depend on your luck.

Prevention is better than cure. Regular servicing is always good = )

How much did it cost to replace the new computer from PML?

Its the CAS control unit. The costs including labour, coding etc was $958. downtime was 5days because it had to be flown in from Germany (or so I was told)
