I feel that the m performance idles louder than the akra evo, but on the throttle, evo for the win.

in an open space / idling at the traffic light....

m performance produces a deep low bass rumble to accentuate the throaty v8 burble....it is quite noticeable to hint what is lurking under the hood. give it some gas and it barks.... like a powerful german shepherd dog....

akra system also produces deep low bass frequencies but they get cancelled out by ambient noises or when car is idling in open roads / spaces... put the same car in an enclosed car park... these low bass frequencies get bounced off the walls and makes the exhaust is more noticeable!

give the akra equipped car some gas... the exhaust note makes the car more like a rev happy race bike...rasppy revs, back pressure burble when you let off the gas....etc.

cold start mornings.... akra > m performance in terms of loudness

technically, your are right but even with the catback, it has the valve operation to up the sound level to level 4 which is actually really loud. I dun tink LTA will approve it once they check the dB this exhaust can go to.

Kreissieg contains numerous fine tubes inside the exhaust to generate the high pitch F1 sound. These tubes are liable to warp or crack at the welds, resulting in rattling, so not recommended for track work but totally fine on the road. There is no way for Kreissieg to be legal because it is not TUV certified.

i have seen one without the midpipe and is LTA approved. Not sure whether the bro is here. It still sounds bassy but not as loud or aggressive under load.

akra slip-on or catback bought from agent (works performance) / other sources provided with TUV cert can be LTA certified.

the midpipe / downpipe is where the power gets created.

Akra slip on vs m performance are almost about the same in terms of loudness.... but no scientific instrument to measure the decibels.

I drove an E90 with an M performance exchaust for slightly more than a day (back to back with my Akra Evo), and I personally find the M performance too soft for my liking. It's slightly louder than stock, sounds very similar to stock, but lacks "character".

Am happy with my Akra Evo.

This car is so well insulated, staying with stock exhaust is just depressing when the blip sound upon downshifting isn't pronounced..

I have listened to a few brands lately and my favorites are Akra Evolution and RPI GTM Race. Both are full systems but the latter costs half the price which you know why..
What is great about these two systems are the ~25kgs weight saving...Gotta have that when M3 is already 1650Kg.

Akra legal slip-on is $5k+ and Perf Exh. is ~$7k. Both from Munich. Includes labour.

I ordered the Akra.

Full Akra Evo System is about 8400 w/out Install from Works Performance. Might be able to get a slight discount from works as they were having a sale recently.

Akra is titanium whereas M perf is inconel. Inconel is more expensive than titanium. Check out the Eisenmann inconel exhaust. It is even more expensive. Moreover, i had seen Akra break but had yet to see M perf break. I am not a stout supporter of the M perf but it really boils down to personal preference and see what you prefer.
