New toy! Weitec Hicon TX "plus" coilovers

Re: New toy! Weitec Hicon TX "plus" coilovers

My ST coil also got very soft squeks. Sounds quite cute, and I quite like it, so I leave it as it is. :p

While enthusiastically playing with my new coilovers early yesterday morning at the Clementi Ave 6 on-ramp to PIE Tuas, the turn was unexpectedly sharp and I had to brake _hard_ to avoid becoming united with an upcoming barrier wall.

Time to upgrade my brakes.. =.="

Re: New toy! Weitec Hicon TX "plus" coilovers

yeah, you must upgrade your brakes. alcon/brembo/stoptech ... sweet!
safety is critical ya :D

Bro, how is your ride now after you installed your sway bar? Better than before?

Ahh that's the thing; didn't manage to get it done because the folks at BVO were really busy yesterday and I couldn't leave my car with them till 6 pm. Ah Wee (their suspension specialist I think) said he will try to get it done earlier but he could'nt promise anything. Bernard from BVO called me later in the evening to apologize. I thought that was a very decent thing that he did. Didn't expect it. :)

I will get it done sometime within the next 2-3 weeks. Will be sure to post a review when I'm done. :D

The coilovers meanwhile are very, very good. Firmer but more comfortable than stock (because of the rebound damping?), and on stock my car wobbles a bit at high speed when I shift the steptronic (due to me steering with only one hand), but with the new suspension the car remains perfectly straight. Body roll is significantly reduced too.. and off course looks damn swee with a 2 cm reduction in height. :D

Nice to hear that your coilover is working well for you.

Look forward to your review on ARB. Interested to know whether coilover vs ARB which is improve handling more.

Now you got Power (ECU tuning) + Handling (coilover + ARB), next plans to beautify car.

313 rims very nice. ....

Finally got my ARB done yesterday by the fine folks at BOSS. Sorry no pictures because it was done at their other workshop at Sin Ming Autocare and there don't really have place to hang around until they take out the babies from the box.

I thought that my car's cornering couldn't get much flatter. I am happily wrong. :D my habit of accelerating around corners has gotten worse... Going to tackle the Clementine Avenue 6 bend again.. Haha..

Thanks to Nic, Kelvin (I think that's his name. Corrections welcome) and crew for the fine job as always. :)

Nice meeting you too pbear, certainly appreciate you letting me try your out your tuned engine. I can definitely feel more low end torque that will make city driving more enjoyable.

With regards to your coilover, the ride feels much firmer than stock, but not jarring. In fact, I was a bit surprise at the comfort level and handling is noticeably sharper. On top of it, with your Eisenmann + Gruppe CAI creating sweet "surround sound" your car is really fun to drive. :shakemyb:

Haha thanks for the compliments Ed! Ya the Weitec Hicon TX is a very nice coilover set. Now with the H&R it's a bit bumpier but the handling has also gotten even more fun. :D Hey next PML offer wonder if we get the paddle shifters together can get better price. :D

Pbear, doubt PML will give additional discount on top of the special promo, since the special discount price is already heavily discounted from their usual prices.

Heard they might have one coming up during the GSS. Stay tune. :D

Re: New toy! Weitec Hicon TX "plus" coilovers

Btw, what is a Tuv cert?

Yo, robot. Someone has already tried to reply your question about TUV. But I will provide a slightly more detail one.

TUV (the U has 2 dots on top of it in it's actual font) is a regulatory testing and certifying body (from Germany i think). They are like our PSB (in fact they bought over some of PSB testing facilities) in Singapore. Still remember when you used to find socket plugs with "PSB Certified" stickers on them. It is pronounced as "tooth" and not T - U - V.
