Hey bro (or sis.. haha).
A lot to do of course with your budget and needs. Since you are considering all of the above, budget is probably not much of a factor, so it boils down to needs.
How many other cars do you have? If you have at least one other, a coupe, especially a two-seater like the Z4, is bloody sexy if slightly impractical (that's why you need one other car - I assume you have kids). If not, you probably want a four-door car. Particularly if you have to haul your wife, >1 kid and the maid, the X5/X6 are definitely very good. Choice between the X5 and X6, IMO, is a matter of taste - whether you want a more traditional SUV look (X5) or a coupe/SUV cross-over look (X6).
On the other hand if you want to go the 3-series route, since budget is probably less of an issue for you, go straight for the 335i, then go to Boss for Juicebox and other performance upgrades like exos or intakes. Confirm no regrets.
Again E90 (4 door) or E92 (2 door) will depend on your needs. E92 of course sexier, but a PITA to get in and out of the back seats.
Edit: If within your budget, the E93 335i (2 door convertible) is a definite yes! Particularly if, like me, you love driving down deserted roads at 3 in the morning. Sadly my roof cannot fold down. Regret listening to people who say "what for buy converible? Only breathe bus exos!"

I also converted to bimmer, in 2009, after driving Jap cars for 16 years. After test-driving IS250, C180, 320i, 323i, 325i, 335i and 523i, I settled for the best of the lot
After driving it for 1 and a half years, I can confirm that E90 335i is a very good family car. It is unassuming and not loud on the road but yet has the power of a sports car when you need it.
If you are indenting from PML, I would suggest adding Logic 7 and Comfort access to make it perfect.

The X1 is alright I guess, but if you want big, definitely the X5/X6.

There is not much use of the X drive in Sg.

SG Car Mart always got very good deals on bimmers (I think the address is sgcarmart.com.sg, google if wrong). No matter where you buy from though you should always bring to one of the big bimmer workshops (BOSS - which I personally use, BVO or J4C, as recommended by others) for a once over to make sure you're not getting a lemon.
About 10 years back bimmer was sort of infamous in SG for producing "Friday cars", which are cars allegedly hurriedly put together just before the weekend and are allegedly full of faults. I recall at least one ST article on this because since that article my dad kept nagging me to never buy a bimmer.
Needless to say I didn't listen. Haha. But the point is: bring for inspection before committing. If the owner/agent refuses, walk away.

My opinion for consideration is that any convertible will more than likely have a weaker chasis compared to its non convertible. This could result in a weaker handling and slower cornering. however this,at the end of the day, is amatter of preference.

I think the stylishness of driving with the top down more than compensates for the loss of rigidity. Anyway it's not likely that under normal driving conditions you will ever feel the difference.
The bigger problem is that the convertibles are 200kg heavier, a difference you -can- feel when you accelerate. But again being able to drive with the top down on a cool night/morning more than makes up for that.
