Just some points to note:

The 7:29 time was registered using
a. revised suspension settings (June 2008 production or later cars)
b. stiffer engine mounts (June 2008 or later)
c. Dunlop tyres.

Here's a different perspective... let's say Nissan numbers are honest. So the June 2008 cars are faster than the TMS launch cars by 2% in the hands of their test driver at the Ring. That's like going from 2'40" to about 2'37" on SIC... so someone looking for a GTR on the used market should go for the June 08 cars.

The Bridgestone was said to account for abt 3-4 seconds slower.

So the revised suspension accounted for the remainder 6-7 seconds. On a 7.5 minute lap.

According to the GTR Development Team Leader, the best configuration is the American/European configuration because the driver is on the left side (balancing the second driveshaft on the right side).

So the best car to get is a LHD June 2008 production vehicle

ignoring the gt2 entirely, the testers were unable to come close to nissan's ring time and expressed doubt in a pro driver closing that large of a gap

at 7.29 of the GTR's initial claim, that is surely a helluva cheat...

Rohl did 7:32 in the GT2 on a public day. He would have been quicker had he been on a closed track like what Nissan did.
