Paddleshift M3 Steering FINALLY on my E92!

After enduring 20mths without a nice steering wheel, using the stock steering wheel, I finally took the plunge and ordered a DCT M3 steering wheel. Everything will be transplanted over so that it looks OEM, yet with thicker grip and with thumbgrips!

For people who wants to know the details:

BMW Part No: 32 34 2 283 738
Material: Nappa Leather
Diameter of wheel: 365mm

Here's my stock steering wheel:

Removing the DCT M3 Steering wheel from the box

Check out the difference in thickness between the DCT M3 Steering wheel (left) and the stock steering wheel (right).

Transplant the wiring harness & plate from old steering to DCT M3 Steering wheel

Fit everything back and TADA! Nice thick M3 steering goodness!

Note, the paddleshifters do not exactly fit the DCT M3 steering cutouts and there is a bit of cutting and adjustments needed. I decided not to do anything at the moment and so I will source for a set of DCT M3 paddles this time!

The mod virus continues!!

It is a bit soft and not as hard as stock steering wheel. Still getting used to the thicker steering! What I have been missing for the past 20mths!!

Hello! Yes, it is my handphone holder. Bought it from Proclip HERE. If u are thinking of getting one, I'm willing to sell you mine, only thing that u have to buy from Proclip is the correct handphone bracket. Mine's for the SE P1i.

Nope. Had the help of Prof Wu, who purchased the M3 steering (no cutouts) with me.

Well done Sam! I am sure you enjoy driving more now haha....when I had mine changed to M3 steering I drove around alot more for the first 2 weeks haha, nice steering feel...does your car "feel" more powerful? hahaha..:laughlik:

Oh that.... I got it sent out to get some custom work done on it and the handbrake leather piece. No idea when I'm gettting them back though...

I notice the metal inserts on the M3 steering wheel as well (similar to those found on your original non-M sports steering). Is that an option?
