i'm really new to this so pls help me out here... i want to change my lights to those bright white lighs that you see a lot on the roads nowaday but i don't know which type to choose cos apparently there are quite a few varieties.. mine's a 318i (1994) btw..

these are for the headlights:

philips06.jpg

5000k dazzling white light output
Outstanding light output performance with same power consumption
UV-block quartz glass whihc is safe for plastic headlights
Direct replacement, no need for additoinal parts and wiring

philips05.jpg

HIgh light output - 300% brighter than standard halogen blubs
Low energy consumption, 50% of the standard halogen bulbs only
Longer life- up to 2500 hours; almost equal to car life
Best "High color temperature" bulb in terms of light performance
UV quartz glass provides total protectionfor headlamp reflector
UV blocked-safe for plastic headlamps

philips01.jpg

4300k stylish white light output, enables driving with confidence
Better refelctions from road marks and signs
Outstanding light output performance with same power consumption
UV blocked quartz glass which is safe for plastic headlights
Complementary sidelvight for total headlighting upgrade
Direct replacement, no need for additional parts and wiring

philips03.jpg

Up to 50% more light on the road
10-20m longer light beam

i don't really know the differences except that some are probably brighter... and which is better or nicer? cos i dun wanna waste money for something lousy although it may not be much la but still all the time wasted getting it done.. i wan my car to look more sporty so i guess the lights should be bright..i saw a car that day that had really nice lights..it was a really nice strong beam that really made the car stand out.. so if anyone can help me, pls do give me ur opinions before i make a final choice... thanks!:)

If the headlights in your 318i is using the halogen bulb (yellow light), then direct replacement of diamond vision is the best option (one to one change bulb only, no wiring involved). I tried both diamond vision and crystal vision before, I preferred Diamond Vision and still using it. It's pure white and not too bluish, definitely much brighter than normal bulb (yellow light).

As for Xenon HID, even brighter than the diamond vision. But you need to install the ballast and change the headlight set-up, etc... Not as easy as direct replacement of bulb. And you may not be passed by the STA for inspection during the road tax renewal (depends on your luck lah, some OK some NOT).

Try to search the threads in this forum, I posted this topic before I made my decision to switch to Diamond Vision. Happy Modding, Cheers. :yummie:

Yo bro, doesn't matter if it is 318, 320 or 325. It depends on the type of headlight you are currently using, projector headlight (yellow halogen bulb) or HID?

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

last i heard all phillips XXXXvision are lta compliant

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

when i send the E30 last year to change to diamond, heard only Bluevision was approved. Diamond not approved.. but i went to fit it anyways... inspection time swap... then now too lazy to do the swapping... OEM / stock is best

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

Change bulbs first, then add angel eyes :)

I was told that all XXXXvision are LTA compliant too. Anyway, my E46 is due for inspection this coming July 08, will update the status when time arrives.

Absolutely agree. In fact, I did both Diamond Vision and angel eyes at one go. Just love to see my ride's angel eyes-fog light combi behind a black car in front of me at traffic light. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

bulb-change wise is more idiot-proof and less hassle, philips diamond vision still the best among all.
hid wise, u will have to throw in the ballast n bulbs, need to remove that during inspection

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

hey everyone! thanks for all the tips and advice.. i guess my choice is quite obvious... i'll be going with the diamond vision if i were to choose phillips...

just wondering..are there other brands or types of bulbs i should look at or consider besides the phillips one?

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

can try PIAA but i still think philips diamond vision 5000k not bad.
can try buying at eng soon, so far the cheapest i saw to date, 68 bucks or something like that

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

I used Philips Diamond Vision. It burnt (melt) a patch on my headlamp cover. Luckly I could replace back and file a warranty claim from PML (two years ago),

I still have the Diamond Vision bulbs. Used only one month. Sell cheap cheap. Paid I think $45. Will sell at $20 as-is basis.

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

Please don't go HID... The glare to oncoming traffic is really irritating!

Cheers! :)

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

Go with the Philips Diamond Vision, been on my car for 2 years and no problems at all. Just that like what Mock said, every year inspection must swap to oem ones, easy 2 minute job.

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

yup yup...i agree...i cant stand the glare too... even from behind wen it happens to shine right at my side mirror and it really hurts the eyes.. but wen u look at the car alone..it can be quite nice with those lights.. :)

Re: pls give some advise before i choose to change my lights...

ouh..i still have to change them back to the old ones wen i go for inspection? is it illegal? or just like for precautionary sake? cos some of the others were mentioning that it might have been approved already... anyways..that shouldnt be a problem la..like u said..it only takes a few mins.. yup..thanks for ur opinion..seems like everyone else thinks this is the best choice too..so final decision made! diamond vision! hahaha...
