hi any seasoned drivers can give advice on precautions to take when driving up to kota tinggi?

Wah lau, u all ah. LoL.

Just like driving up another other Malaysia route. Just be careful and don't stop to help any cars. Drive with caution though as the last section of the drive after Johor Bahru is through the small routes, you might want to take note of small animals crossing the road.

Otherwise safe and okay, but don't speed. =)

Bet, I am not a seasoned driver but just that I drove up to Kota Tinggi 5 times before......Just my two cents worth.

When one drives up North....anywhere is not entirely safe....u just got to mind a few rules....dont stop to help...dont challenge local cars, just give way to them....dont park at dark places and put extra steering wheel lock!

If you accidentally knock down a livestock (goat, cow, etc), keep driving and do not stop. The locals take it out on you.

My relative (Malaysian Chinese) knocked down a cow. The locals came after him -- he had to hide in the police station for a while, and be escorted...

Do not have to worry too much, I take the drive up almost daily. It is safe but as mentioned here, do not stop to help and generally the locals at Kota are friendly.
