Rattling body panels on the E90 M Sport

Hi everyone,

I noticed a rattling that sounds like the body panels vibrating when my E90 M Sport goes over rough roads.

Don't get me wrong, I heard this on the test car, and my friend at PML told me that this is a generic characteristic with all E90 M Sports which PML has not been able diagnose. So I came into this with my eyes wide open and I'm not complaining.

But I was wondering if anyone has this problem with their babies and were you able to get rid of the rattle? Sorry to sound so noob, but I am.

read these threads carefully and you will have the full information & solution on creak, squeak, rattle, what-have-you
if your car is under PML warranty, just ask them to fix the 3M tape ... just FIX IT !

BTW, my dashboard squeak like siao. i live with it by turning up my ICE
i have no confidence on PML to dismantle the dashboard to to solve the squeak and rattle.

Hi everyone,

Called PML about the rattling and was promptly given an appointment date for the next day. I was even given 2 more appointment times over the next 3 days just in case I couldn't solve the problem on the first day and needed follow ups.

Went in, got it diagnosed within 15 secs of the tester being in the car. Friction tape applied in 3 hours and now, the problem is solved. They even washed the car for me.

Only thing is, I had to wait for almost an hour for the SA even though I promptly arrived at my designated appointment time.

But on the whole, I am very satisfied with the service I got at PML. Perhaps I'm one of the very very luck few this time.

Mind sharing where exactly was the friction tape applied? A picture would be great but if not, a description would be fine as well

There are several areas, mine rattling sound came from the B pillar area on driver side. After adjusting the door striker inwards a bit more, the sound is gone and the door shut very tight now.

To be honest, I really don't know. I can't even see any sign of the tape. But I sure can hear the difference. Really is so so so so so so much better. I wonder why they don't do it during PDI since they know it's a problem.
