Replica or original rims?

Bros, this is a dumb question. What are the differences, pros and cons? Price can be alot different which makes me wonder if I should just stick to my ugly stock rims.

u get what u pay for (usually)

just depends on what roads youre looking to roll around on and whether you get the proper protection from your tires

but even reps have different quality finishes

i'm sure the others here can give u better advise. or u can do a search, i think its been discussed b4.

imo, i'd rather get a used set of originals over brand new reps

the finishes of replicas may not be as good. quality dpending on which replica may vary. suggest getting good quality reps if u have to go down that route.

Issue raised many times.... lemme put it in another aspect........

When you contemplate on buying a replica polo shirt, you would have thought of the quality issue - too many questions to raise - after one wash, will the shirt shrink? Will the threads run loose? Will the buttons fall out? Will the rhinestones come off? Will the colour fade?

If these could be answered, good for you. Easy decision making process.

If you do not know the answers, would you have bought the shirt?

I cannot associate safety issues with my example. But yes, safety issue is a bigger concern..... can anyone answer that?

what about replica that is JWL VIA TUV approved which "so called" equal or better than OEM quality ?
just comparing BMW OEM wheel not other reputable brand that normally commands a premium for its superior quality
BMW OEM wheel also commands a premium because it is OEM but not superior quality

replica rims are ok lah. more impt is the tire. cheap rim but good tire better than good rim but cheap tire.

Lol. I rather keep using my ugly stock rims than worry about safety of rep rims. Heard from rim shops that rep rims should not go beyond 140km/hr.

I really wonder why PML issues ugly rims while Audi uses cool ones.

replica rims are ok lah. more impt is the tire. cheap rim but good tire better than good rim but cheap tire.

depends on where the reps are made.. i feel italian reps are quite good in quality... and indeed tyres mre impt than rims...

My personal view of course Original is good. But again, it all depends on your budget. Nowadays replica are not that bad but again do you track, high speed, Design, etc....

Safety of course is dependent on all factors from Rims, Brakes & Tyres.

Net Net.... all depends on your budget.

depends on where the reps are made.. i feel italian reps are quite good in quality... and indeed tyres mre impt than rims...

replica more or less is copy design and usually you wont know exactly where are they produced ?

if using BMW OEM design, then replicas. if swee swee one like DPE, then go for original.

not many peplicas available for bmw OEM rims. a bit of a problem.

no choice la ...

a. oem fitment is too conservative. even willing to spend the money, the offset is sunken (ie: style 313, style 269, etc)

b. nice chio wheel like csl or m3 oem don't fit non m car

have to go reps ! if aftermarket like dpe, volks, advans then go for original lor .. hehe
