Re: Sia

I think they just want you to pay attention to the take off. If you have handphoens and all those during take off it will be a mess if there's an emergency.

Same thing goes for raising window shades and placing seats upright. These are safety measures to make sure that people sitting inside can get out easily and that those at the window report anything unusual they see out of the window. I know some airlines don't care about the window shades but I do appreciate them being up during a take-off.

there are reasons why they do things like no using of headphones during take off or landing.... with all the wires cluttering about, if there is any emergency, everyone will be panicking and tripping over these wires...

Having said that, my only grouse is the cabin crew are not doing enough to stop asses from using their hps incessantly before take off...people can actually have a conference call on the runway before take off and the cabin crew just look helplessly at the fella..and yes he was an ang moh

i always try to act cool with my own B&O headphones...kidding...

but still the crew ask me take it off during take off and landing...

Re: Sia

yah lah but you must understand our Singaporean culture...everything must be tip top in everyway and tat includes safety mah. It takes only 1 incident for Singaporeans to call for PAP to resign and WP to take over gahmen and also kick out FTs and kill all cyclists etc etc.... see the MRT issue u knw liao...alot of things out of proportion given MRT's good record since 1985.

As for the Hp thing, whether its a myth or not.. the jury is still out there and thus I would err on the safe side and insist no usage of electronic equipment when take off or landing.. my life leh.

Re: Sia

I think when it comes to safety I cannot compromise, there are hundreds of ppl on the plane. So for one's selfish needs to listen to that short 10-15min of music during take off versus hundreds of lives, tell me which do you choose.

I have been on Cathay to HK and the blardee chinese don't give a sh*t about these and just lean back the moment they get on the plane, the air stewardess kept telling them to put the seat upright but they will simply put it back down the moment the stewardess goes away. Sitting right behind these b*astards I just want to box them seriously.

I do feel that SQ abit lax nowadays. Let angmor make phone call, etc. ? Wahlau.

When I was on SQ11 to Tokyo a few years back I think there was a leak in one of the emergency door. It was wheezing (like a kettle whistle) right after takeoff all the way till landing.

MRT issue not blown out of proportion by people also...

doesn't take an engineer to know material fatigue one leh...

profits go up but maintenance allocation not given what they deserve be it hardware or manpower.

your car tyre botak liao but you refuse to or no $ to change...can you go and bang PML table after 5 years, 8 years when accident happen?

got accounts claiming to be ex-SMRT employees saying ex-CEO chose to promote her own supports and neglected many experienced technicians, engineers...sounds plausible also leh...

These are valid points...what I meant was the CEO's extravagant lifestyle and FT cramming the MRTs etc..

and the stupid inquiry was also a Take off pants to fart event
