If the scenario is someone scratched your car, you caught him, he struggled and retaliated with force..........

Options:

~ let him run, call police, knowing that police will advise on civil suit (assuming you have caught that culprit), ended up nothing is done except a police report on possible mischief

~ catch him at all costs, especially with force if he retailates. You might end up like Uncle Ong. Then call the police.

What will you do?

To quote a 'past-his-used-by-date-with-a-bloated-pay' certain someone: What would YOU do???

Quite frankly, I do NOT advocate vigilante justice, but if the law is inadequate - for instance in the case of protecting my property such as house or car - I would not mind paying that $3,000.

Re: Singapore Ip Man

Clearly a big mistake in judgement...Some arsehole assault your son and daughter in law for no apparent reason and causing Ip Man to loose 5 teeth in the process of stopping the fight, If I am the judge I will commend him for bravery and being a good citizen for helping the police to catch the assailant...

I would have smashed his balls instead of his jaws...

Re: Singapore Ip Man

if the robber rob your house and injured becos of ur home illegal home fixture or renovation, robber can sue you.

gangster dunno know wtf they doing nowadays, after gang fight, if one got caught, go police sure bo toh all his friend.

Re: Singapore Ip Man

Slight OT, but shows you Singapore's version of justice.

A few years ago when my fiancee (now wife) was renting an apartment. Half way through the lease, we suddenly had a stranger enter the apartment wanting to take possession. It then came to light that the so call "landlord" was actually a tenant illegally subletting to us without our knowledge. The fake landlord had fallen behind his payments, and as a result the real landlord showed up. The real landlord insisted that my fiancee pay all rents in arrears (even though she paid in full to the fake landlord) if she wants to continue staying. Both renter and landlord agencies deny responsibilities even though we suspected that they knew all along.

We made a police report on fraud, and brought the matter to court. We then discovered that
1. The Police would not be involved since they deem it a civil case
2. The Court would not handle it since they deem it a small claiims case
3. The process for small claims court was so onerous that we gave up pursuing the case

So the fraud landlord walked away scotch free. The agencies continued to operate with no consequences.

The police efforts meanwhile focus on important matters like issuing summons to motorists on Lornie Road who mistakenly thought the speed limit was 90, not 70.

Re: Singapore Ip Man

beat up wrong even if its for self defense / to help others.......

maybe time to go get expat wife.... sorry to all SGP ladies.... no offense.

then get expat wife to land the last blow.... SGP law might be more lenient

take a good photo of him and then ran away, find a PI, trace him to his home, burn his car and flat or house.99% police dont know who did it.
estimated direct and indirect cost $50k.( repaint scratched portion of car $300.)

Cannot be.....

If a tenancy agreement has been signed, then no Court will reject a commencement of claim. At the very minimum, you can sue the fake Landlord AND bring in the Agency as Third Party.

Respray is cheaper but you could not tell he will come back to scratch again.

Paying $3000 ensures that you get to see the fear in his eyes and that you have drawn a boundary around your properties just like how a dog will pee and mark his flags.

Sad but true. There was tenancy agreement - court just shooed us to the small claims court and there we were completely turned off by the process.

You want to be our lawyer on this? If you do you can keep 100% of the sum awarded by the court.
