in a country like singapore. we CANNOT afford to privatised public transport and utilities.
once privatised u get all kinds of cock ups n zero accountability. look at smrt.

arrest them n fire them.

Scholar ministars think otherwise.

Re: SMRT drivers refused to start work

One rule for Singaporeans, another rule for Foreign Talents, Workers, Labour, Imports aka. Foreign trash.

Honestly, what's more damaging? 5 Singapore Democratic Party people waving banners, or 200, somesay 100, now hearsay 60 striking PRC fcuktards?

FYI the 5 SDP idiots all got fined/jail threatened at them etc. The PRCs got pay rise!

Re: SMRT drivers refused to start work

Ah gong spend all his life to eradicate riots , strikes to instill peace and stablity... then ah sia kia too well protected duno sky big earth big bring in outsiders to create such a nostalgia scene (for some lah). Why trouble the trouble

The point is the CONSISTENCY of treatment to the same issue, or the lack of.

Both are GLCs, both situations arised from unhappiness within the employees. Both threatened to skip work - aka "strike".

The difference? SIA is a global brand name.

becos SIA pilot union is Alpha... elites...

give them the credit for their brains

by privatizing they disassociate it with politics

so even if WP, SPD, SDA, NSP, etc. wins in 2016 they can talk until cows come home also have no control over them

All I know is their brains is very good in numbers and earning money. Looking at SMRT saga, we all now making money for them is top priority. Whichever political party taking over and whether they will do a better job is another story.

Re: SMRT drivers refused to start work

These guys are striking because the Singapore bus driver is paid more than the china bus driver.

Garmen reaping what they sowed! Letting Foreigners in and treating them better than Singaporeans but end up get bitten in the hand.

Empathize those passengers who suffered the endless wait for the buses all because garmen buay kan.

Re: SMRT drivers refused to start work

MM Lee went through some tough strikes before......he knows the dangers and is determined.

But he not in charge now.......

Still the old saying:

Old man planted the tree and it grew with health, young son comes in and dismantles everything.

Everything we stood for as a nation, be it our pride, belief, law & order, way of life have been compromised and compromised until cow come home. Thank you ministars!

I think this is where the problem lies.

Our Commitment

Our Commitment
SMRT CARES

At SMRT, we believe in working towards the greater good of the community. Living out our corporate vision “Moving People, Enhancing Lives” sees us going beyond our role as a public transport operator to reach out to the disadvantaged in our community.

Yet SMRT is a S$2.5B listed entity answerable to Temasek (54% ownership) and a list of institutions.

Whose priority is taken care of?

Mr Goh in 2003's SIA pilot strike, "No group of employees in Singapore should act without regard for the impact on others, or hold the company and fellow workers hostage to their narrow self-interests."

Senior Lee warned the recalcitrant pilots that he would "break heads" if necessary to stop potential industrial action against SIA.

Facts.
