Meanwhile, a 44-year-old Singaporean businessman was charged on Monday with the murder of Wong. Teo Boon Leng is accused of killing Wong at an upscale condominium on Keppel Bay Drive earlier this month.
It is believed that the two men had a close relationship, although at Wong's wake, a friend who declined to be named commented that Wong has never mentioned Teo to his friends.
Speaking to ST he said, "Most of our friends are in the same age group, so when we heard about this guy, who is in his 40s, we thought it was quite strange."
He once studied at Catholic Junior College and supposedly had worked as a freelance dancer at local clubs. He moved on to do part-time sales at Citibank, but left in 2009.
According to local newspaper Lianhe Wanbao, Teo is director and shareholder of eight companies in the interior design, engineering, IT services and logistics industries. The deceased was a director at a company called Take-A-Card.
A 46-year-old former employee at Teo's interior design firm described him as a strict boss who was friendly and supportive outside of work, reported ST.
He was also described as a workaholic and openly gay.
At the time of Wong's death, he was listed as the director of company called Take-A-Card.
An aunt told reporters that Wong's elderly mother, who doted on him, the younger of two sons, has been kept in the dark regarding his death. She has not been in good health after suffering a stroke about a year ago.
The family has managed to fob off her questions on his whereabouts by saying Wong is busy with work or out of the country.
If found guilty of murder, Teo will be hanged.
